Nebraska vs. Colorado Prediction: Should You Fade Shedeur Sanders, Buffaloes?

The entire planet is jumping on the Colorado bandwagon after Coach Prime pulled off one of the greatest upsets in college football history. The Buffs were +3 on the look-ahead lines last weekend before sportsbooks took that ridiculous number off the board. On Monday, Colorado reopened a -5 favorite against Nebraska in this matchup, an 8-point swing from the original line. Sharps have now steamed Nebraska back to +3 on most books. Should Colorado be laying three points against a Power 5 opponent?

Nebraska vs. Colorado Prediction

This is the first time the Buffs are a favorite against a Power 5 team since 2021. This line move is a complete overreaction to one game. Yes, it was impressive to see Colorado go into Fort Worth and defeat the reigning National Championship runner-ups, but was it really Colorado who won that game? TCU’s defense couldn’t make a single tackle in that game, giving up 45 points on their home field. Personally, I think TCU lost that game more than Colorado won it…

Shedeur Sanders, Coach Prime’s son, was impressive last week. He threw for over 500 yards in his Colorado debut. How will he fare against a significantly better Huskers’ defense? I’m willing to bet the young star takes a step back on Saturday against an underrated defensive unit.

Nebraska held Minnesota to 13 points last week on the road. Although they lost the game, I was impressed from what I saw out of this Nebraska defense. They were able to slow down an above-average offensive unit on the road, a test they’ll be challenged with once again on Saturday.

I’m willing to buy the type surrounding the Buffs offense, but their defense looked atrocious against the Horned Frogs last week. TCU’s below average QB and depleted WR room were able to move the ball downfield with ease for the entire game. Although Jeff Sims didn’t play his best last week in his Nebraska debut, he is a much better QB than Chandler Morris. Sims’ ability to create offense with his legs will be a serious issue for the Buffs defense on Saturday.

Nebraska is once again the underdog in this matchup, making this the eighth straight game where they’re getting points. They’ve been a covering machine in their previous seven games as the underdog, covering in five of their last seven. I’m willing to bet the Huskers continue this trend on Saturday.

If Coach Prime and the Buffs defeat Nebraska by more than a field goal, I will eat my words and put respect on the program he’s building. Until then, I’m going to fade this ridiculous line flip in what could be the largest public overreaction we’ve ever seen in CFB. Fade the hype until this Buffs defense proves they belong in the Top 25. Right now, they don’t, and it’s not even close.
