Stanford vs. USC Prediction

Stanford won their week one game 37-24 when they took down the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on the Island.

Stanford went 3-9 a season ago and matched that 3-9 record in 2021. This program is desperate for success, and they should be encouraged by what they saw in Week 1.

Sophomore Quarterback Ashton Daniels was the star in Week 1. Daniels threw for 248 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Additionally, Daniels rushed for 42 yards.

Senior Running Back Casey Filkins was impressive in the win. Filkins rushed for 67 yards on just six carries. An average of 11.1 yards per touch.

Tight End Benjamin Yurosek had a breakout game, catching nine balls for 138 yards and a touchdown.

USC is led by the best Quarterback in College Football. Caleb Williams won the Heisman Trophy Award a season ago and is the clear favorite to repeat and win the award once again this season. Williams is projected to be the number one pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Trojans are ranked sixth entering play as they are off to a nice 2-0 start this season, beating San Jose State and Nevada.

The offense has been clicking, scoring 55 points in Week 0 against San Jose State and followed that up with a 66-point performance in Week 1 against Nevada.

The running game has been well-balanced for the Trojans in the first two weeks. Marshawn Llyod leads the team in rushing yards (118), while Austin Jones leads the team in rushing touchdowns (2).

Tahj Washington has been the star in the passing game, leading the team in both yards (160) and touchdowns (3). Freshman Zachariah Branch has impressed coaches with a pair of receiving touchdowns in the first two weeks.

The big question mark for USC is their defense, which was underwhelming a season ago. USC looked much better on defense in week two, but understand that the offenses that they face moving forward will be much better than the ones they have seen thus far.

Stanford vs. USC Pick

This is a monster number, and for this game to go over, USC will have to play nearly perfectly.

Do they have the talent to play nearly perfect? Yes, but the odds of a mistake or two happening are significantly higher.

The way that the new college rules are makes this over much more difficult. We should see 7-10 fewer plays per team under these rules, which heavily favor the under.

Stanford will struggle to score more than 21 points in this one, and USC will stay under the 50 mark.
