You may not have heard of Bethune Cookman before, but that doesn’t mean you can't bet on them! Tonight, the Wildcats from Daytona Beach will be traveling to Miami for some Thursday night college football. Will BCU catch the newly-ranked Hurricanes sleeping at home?

Miami has looked fantastic in year two of the Cristobal era. Tyler Van Dyke has taken enormous strides this offseason and has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the nation through the first two weeks. In fact, Van Dyke and Miami have played so well up to this point, I’m willing to bet that a little school from the same state keeps this one within the number.
Bethune Cookman got destroyed by Memphis in their first game of the season. The Wildcats bounced back nicely last week against Savannah State. Luke Sprague put on a clinic under center, completing all but six passes in a much-needed bounce-back game. The strong-armed QB was one of the best JUCO transfers this year, coming from LIU in the offseason.
Oddsmakers showed BCU some respect with the opening line at MIA -46.5. The spread immediately got streamed up to MIA -54 and has stayed there ever since. This is too many points for anyone facing Miami, who’s been known to let their guard down after big wins. Don’t be surprised if Luke Sprague and the Wildcats catch Miami sleeping in this spot. They are now ranked for the first time this season and are coming off a big win against Texas A&M. Now they welcome in Bethune Cookman, a school many didn’t even know existed, into Hard Rock Stadium. Would you get excited for this game and prepare the same way you did for the Aggies on a short week?
This bet is more of a fade of Miami in this spot after recently getting ranked in the AP Poll for the first time all year. I can trust Luke Sprague enough to keep this one within 50 points after watching him slice and dice Savannah State with his big arm last week. Fade the Hurricanes in a huge letdown spot.
