LSU vs. Mississippi State Prediction
The Tigers began the year ranked inside the top ten but lost their season opener to Florida State.
The loss pushed the Tigers down in the rankings to No. 14.
LSU took care of business against Grambling last week, winning 72-10 at home. The Tigers remain No. 14 in the rankings, entering play this weekend.
Jaylen Daniels leads this Tigers offense. Daniels brings loads of experience onto the field, and when right, he is one of the best duel-threat quarterbacks in college football. Daniels played pretty well against Florida State, throwing for 347 yards in the loss. Daniels threw for five touchdowns in LSU's win on Saturday.
LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers is considered one of the best wide receivers in college football. Nabers had five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown last weekend. Brian Thomas Jr. led the Tigers with two touchdowns against. Grambling.
LSU struggled mightily on the defensive side of the football in Week 1. This defense is filled with top-level athletes and future NFL players. Cornerback Zy Alexander led the Tigers with six tackles over the weekend.
Veteran signal-caller Will Rogers leads Mississippi State. Rogers impressed in the team's week two win over Arizona. Rogers threw the ball just 17 times, completing 13 of his attempts for three touchdowns.
Jo'quavious Marks saw loads of action last weekend. Marks rushed for 123 yards on 24 attempts.
The Bulldogs ran 36 rushing plays in the win compared to just 17 in the air.
The defense has looked solid so far for the Bulldogs, but it is fair to question if their success can continue once they get into SEC play. Linebacker Jett Johnson led the Bulldogs with 11 tackles in Week 2.
LSU vs. Mississippi State Pick
This is an LSU line all the way. The fact that we see LSU as a double-digit road favorite tells the tale.
LSU is a top-ten team in the nation from a talent standpoint. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in college football, but this is a game where they will roll.
The Bulldogs lack explosive players on the offensive side of the football. Outside of Marks, the Bulldogs do not have the playmakers to keep pace with LSU. This team wants to run the football and control the clock.
LSU is too tough upfront to allow that to happen, and if the Tigers jump out to a lead, they will force State to play in a style they are not comfortable with.
