There has been more drama this week than expected between two rival Colorado programs. Jay Norvell, who is in year two of rebuilding this Colorado State program, chirped Coach Prime for how he dresses on a local radio show this week.

Colorado State vs. Colorado Prediction
Why would Coach Norvell say this? Maybe it’s because the Rams had two weeks to prepare and watch film on the Buffs before this matchup. Either way, it’s a petty thing to go at Coach Prime for, but it ensures me that the Rams don’t think they’re a +23.5 point underdog in the matchup. Their coach just told the world that he isn’t afraid of the trendiest program in the nation and that confidence trickles down to the players on the field.
Right now, the ‘Buffs are on “cloud nine” after defeating TCU and Nebraska to open the season. It hasn’t been as great of a start for Coach Norvell and the Rams, who got destroyed in their only game of the season. Coach Norvell is making some changes this week, though, as he announced he’ll be starting Brayden Fowler Nicolosi on Saturday. The Clay Miller era is over (for now), and Norvell finally gets to start the guy he brought in to run this offense.
Nicolosi looked decent enough against Wazzou when he entered the game from the bench. The Rams have something to build on, and if they can’t figure out how to keep this game within three touchdowns, maybe Norvell isn’t the guy CSU hired.
Norvell revitalized Nevada’s football program before taking the Colorado State job last year. I believe in him as a coach, and I don’t think he would chirp Coach Prime if he didn’t think the Rams had a chance in this contest. The public will continue to pour on the Colorado -23.5 bets after seeing Coach Sanders give his players sunglasses, mocking Norvell’s petty comments.
Tonight’s matchup will be the first time all season this Colorado team is playing an opponent they know they’re better than. I love this spot for the Rams, who have a chance to catch their rival sleeping on a national stage. Don’t be surprised if the Rams catch Coach Prime and the ‘Buffs sleeping…
Colorado has been a cash cow for the public through the first two weeks of the CFB season. The books are getting crushed by COLO bettors, and you can only expect more of the public to jump on the bandwagon against their weakest opponent to date. At the time of writing this article, Colorado is currently bringing in over 90% of bets on their spread and moneyline. If bets like COLO -23.5 hit, Las Vegas wouldn’t look as shiny as it does, and the sportsbooks would be bankrupt.
I’m not saying CSU is going to win this game outright. I do love the spot for the Rams against a Colorado team that’s simply getting too much praise in the media. For the first time all season, Colorado faces a team they know they’re better than. Bet the Rams to catch Coach Prime sleeping and cover the spread. This is simply too many points and a complete overreaction to the media’s hype.
