Tennessee vs. Florida Prediction
The first meeting between these two teams was on October 28, 1916, a game in which Tennessee won 24-0. Since then, it has been mostly Gators, as Florida leads the all-time series 31-21. Tennessee won a close game last year, 38-33.
The Vols are off to a 2-0 start, but they would tell you that they are unhappy with their performance last week. The Vols beat Austin Peavy 30-13 after leading by just seven points at halftime.
Joe Milton will lead this Vols offense. He will have big shoes to fill, as this was one of the best offenses in college football in 2022. Milton has played pretty well so far, but this will be his toughest task of the season this weekend.
Jaylen Wright led the Vols rushing attack in Week 2 with 118 yards on 13 attempts. Wright is averaging 9.3 rushing yards per attempt this season.
Senior wide receiver Ramel Keyton has been the leading receiver after two weeks. Keyton has eight catches for 118 yards and one touchdown.
The defense has looked okay in their first two games but will have to perform much better moving forward if they want to compete in the SEC.
The Gators lost their Week 1 game against Utah and bounced back last week with a 49-7 win over McNeese State.
This feels like an essential year for Florida as they have finished under the .500 mark in back-to-back seasons.
Head Coach Billy Napier is in his second year at the helm for Florida. Napier feels as if this program is on the right track and will return to form sooner than later.
Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz will lead this Florida offense. Mertz played well last weekend, going 14/17 for 193 yards and one touchdown.
Florida has one of the best one-two punches in college football at the running back position. Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne have 234 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns this year.
Senior Wide Receiver Ricky Pearsall has been the team's most dominant weapon through the air. Persall leads the team in receiving yards (215).
The Gator's defense has played well in the first two weeks of the season and is filled with high-end athletes.
Tennessee vs. Florida Pick
The Gators are a tough team to beat when playing at home.
Florida did not look great against Utah, but this Tennessee defense is not nearly as good as the defense the Gators faced against Utah.
Florida will be able to put up points and compete in this game.
Tennessee still has a dynamic offense but lost loads of production from a season ago, and they have not impressed me against poor opponents this year.
