Wyoming vs. Texas Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Texas had the win heard around the world last weekend as they went into Alabama and defeated the Crimson Tide in impressive fashion. Quinn Ewers played an exceptional game and had that offense cooking. Can they recreate that success with another blowout win against Wyoming? Let's break it down.

Wyoming vs. Texas Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Both Texas and Wyoming come into this game undefeated at 2-0. Wyoming had a huge upset in Week 1 as they came from behind to beat Texas Tech after trailing 17-0 and then beat Portland State in a very comfortable 31-17 win.

Wyoming vs. Texas Prediction

Texas looked a bit sluggish in their first game against Rice but still won comfortably and then did the unthinkable in Week 2 as they went into Bryant-Denny stadium and gave Alabama the business as they defeated the Crimson Tide by a score of 34-24. In that game, the Longhorns outgained Alabama 454 to 362, and Quinn Ewers was the main difference maker. He threw for 349 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions and also added 11 rushing yards to cap off the best performance of his career.

Texas did not turn the ball over once and forced 2 of their own as Texas now leads the season turnover battle against their opponents by the tally of 5-0 as the Longhorns have yet to cough up the ball. Obviously, there is a huge talent disparity between both of these teams, but I do think this is a potential letdown spot for Texas after nothing, one of their biggest wins over the past few seasons.

This spot also doubles a bit as a letdown AND a look-ahead spot as Texas begins BIG 12 play next week with a road game at Baylor, so this could be a very sluggish sandwich spot against a Wyoming squad that has shown a lot of heart so far. Wyoming is a team who wants to run the ball and establish possession. That strategy is how they will keep this game somewhat close.

Wyoming is 18th in the country in average time of possession after two games, so they have done a solid job of running the ball, establishing possession, and moving the sticks while keeping the ball away from their opponent. I was also very impressed with the heart and resiliency that Wyoming showed against Texas Tech as they were able to overcome a 17-0 deficit to win straight up as 14-point underdogs. If Wyoming can limit their turnovers on offense and limit penalties on both sides of the ball, they could make this game a bit interesting if they can turn it into a low-scoring/grind-it-out affair.

Do I expect Wyoming to win this game? No, but I do think they are talented enough to keep this game from becoming a laugher in what is a tough scheduling sandwich spot for Texas. With that being said, I am rolling with Wyoming +30 at -110 for 1.5u as one of my most confident college football plays of the day for tonight's action.
