7 minOle Miss vs. Alabama Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Jaxson Dart, Rebels Run Up the Score?
We've got a great SEC matchup between Ole Miss and Alabama on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide are 2-1 already, suffering a loss at home to Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns, but the road win at USF did not inspire much confidence, as Alabama won 17-3 in a low-scoring grind with plenty of questions at quarterback.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has the Rebels humming on both sides of the line of scrimmage, scoring 52.7 points per game while surrendering under 17 points per game through three weeks of action. A 37-20 road win over Tulane, plus another 25-point victory at home over Georgia Tech, has Ole Miss in a great position to play a spoiler to Alabama's attempt to recover from their loss to Texas.
Historically, this matchup has been dominated by Alabama, with the Crimson Tide winning five straight games outright, although they barely survived a 30-24 scare in Oxford last season. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has accounted for nine total touchdowns this season, along with wideout Tre Harris and running back Quinshon Judkins, who have nine combined touchdowns to lead the Rebels' skilled position groups.
Tyler Buchner replaced Jalen Milroe as Alabama's signal caller against USF, but it was an experiment that went awry, with Buchner failing to record a touchdown and completing just 42 percent of his pass attempts. Jase McClellan, Alabama's RB1, should be more involved on Saturday during the Crimson Tide's return to Tuscaloosa, which could allow the offense to function better than we've seen during the past couple of games.
Currently, oddsmakers favor Alabama at home as seven-point favorites ATS, with the point total line set to 54.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook. NCAAF handicapper Matt MacKay gives us his prediction and pick to make during this SEC showdown on Saturday afternoon.

Ole Miss vs. Alabama Prediction
It's not every year we see Alabama enter a game with a sputtering offense, but that's exactly what we're getting with this Week 4 matchup. Ole Miss is playing with confidence, winning by over 20 points in every game thus far, while we already touched on Alabama's struggles against a non-Power 5 opponent last weekend.
Kiffin is intimately familiar with Saban's program because he was the OC at Alabama several years ago. Sure, personnel changes have occurred, but Ole Miss has a big edge against an Alabama defense that surrendered multiple big plays downfield against Texas at home two weeks ago.
Historically, this matchup has been a high-scoring affair, with at least 54 points scored in all of the five previous meetings. While Alabama's offensive struggles are concerning, they will likely turn back to Milroe, who is clearly the more athletic prospect under center. All the Crimson Tide need to do is manufacture a running game to open up passing lanes against Ole Miss, who allowed Tulane and Georgia Tech to reach 20 points.
In the past couple of matchups, the point total has risen all the way to 80, but now, due to Alabama's offensive inefficiency, we're landing 54.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook. This game easily goes over 54.5 total points in a prove-it game for both teams, making this pick a multi-unit lock to hammer on a jam-packed Week 4 slate.
