Boise State has had a tough start to their 2023 season as they enter this matchup with a record of 1-2. In their opening game, they got their doors blown off by Washington, who threw the ball all over the yard against them and were able to put up 568 total yards on this weak Broncos defense.

Boise State vs San Diego State Prediction
Boise State did not force a single turnover in that game and allowed 490 passing yards. They followed that performance up by allowing 530 total yards to UCF in an 18-16 loss. Against two FBS offenses, this Boise State defense has gotten absolutely torched.
The Broncos are third worst in the FBS in defensive yards allowed per play, as they are allowing their opponents to gain 8.6 yards per play to this point. Boise State is allowing 5.6 yards per carry, which is ranked 120th (out of 133), and are allowing 11.5 yards per pass attempt, which is second worst in the country.
We are not accustomed to seeing a Boise State team be this bad on that side of the ball and while San Diego State does not have the most explosive offense, the Aztecs could have a field day exploiting the Broncos on that side of the ball. San Diego State has also played a fairly tough schedule and has performed much better in those games than Boise State.
Against UCLA, the Aztecs were able to force two turnovers and were stopped on the goal line, so that game was a bit closer than the final score indicated. Then, against Oregon State, who may be a force in the Pac-12 this season, the Aztecs were able to hold them to 26 points and again forced two turnovers as they were able to cover the +25.5 spread relatively easily.
The strength of this San Diego State team is their defense, which was on display in their win against Ohio as they won 20-13 and forced three turnovers against the Bobcats. San Diego State is averaging 2.3 takeaways per game, and Boise State has already coughed the ball up six times through three games this season, including three in their last game against FCS North Dakota.
Boise State starting quarterback Taylen Green has failed to take the next step forward after winning the job last year over Hank Bachmeier. I think this Aztec defense will force him into some tough spots, and he has not proven himself to be a great decision-maker to this point.
With that being said, I am rolling with San Diego State +7 (bought hook) at -116 for 1.5u as one of my most confident college football plays of the day for tonight's action.
