Florida notched a huge underdog victory last week as they took down Tennessee at home as seven-point dogs. Can they keep their momentum rolling against Charlotte with a huge spread tonight? Let's break it down.
ANALYSIS

Charlotte vs. Florida Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Florida has been Jekyll and Hyde this season as they looked really bad in their season opener against an undermanned Utah squad and then put together a stellar performance against Tennessee in a blowout win in the swamp.

Charlotte vs. Florida Prediction

So, what type of team is Florida? Well, the answer is we don't really know yet, which means we can certainly label them as inconsistent. This is almost an identical spot that Texas was in last week. Texas beat Alabama as 7/7.5-point underdogs and then played Wyoming as 28–30-point favorites. They sleepwalked through the first half of that game and turned it on in the second half but only won the game by a score of 31-10, as Wyoming covered rather easily.

I do not think this will be an easy cover for Charlotte by any means, but this is an absolutely prime spot for Charlotte to come in here and take advantage of a Florida team resting on their laurels after a huge win against the Volunteers. Charlotte does not have a great defense, but Florida has struggled at times on defense as well.

The Gators are allowing their opponents to convert nearly 40% of their third downs this season, and if they can't get off the field, that is just more time off the clock and more scoring opportunities for their opponents. Florida also does not do a great job of getting sacks and putting pressure on the quarterback, as they are ranked 126th in the nation in sack percentage so far through three games.

Charlotte was able to put up 300+ yards of offense against both Maryland and Georgia State, who have both proven to have above-average defenses. We saw Georgia State completely stifle Coastal Carolina earlier in the week, and Charlotte was able to put up 25 points on the Panthers. Charlotte also has a talented running back in Durrell Robinson, who is averaging 4.5 yards per carry against some stiff competition. Charlotte should be able to move the sticks against an undisciplined Florida group, and I very well could see Florida turning the ball over multiple times, as they are not very disciplined on that side of the ball either.

Do I expect Charlotte to win this game straight up? No, but this is the epitome of a letdown spot for Florida after notching such a huge and unexpected win after beating Tennessee, so I have to follow my principles and back Charlotte here. With that being said, I am rolling with Charlotte +28 at -110 for 1.5u as one of my most confident College Football Plays of the Day for today's action.
