Utah vs. Oregon State Prediction
Utah sneakily has one of the best defenses in the nation. They have question marks under center right now, but you can’t deny how elite their defense has been. The Utes have allowed the third-least rushing yards per game through the first four weeks of the season. If Oregon State wants to beat Utah tonight, it’s going to have to be through the air.
The Utah secondary is beatable. Although their rush defense is elite, they’ve given up the 96th most yards per game through the air. Expect DJ and Oregon State to pass the ball early and often in this contest limiting Damien Martinez’s carries.
Deshaun Fenwick, the senior bruiser in the Oregon State backfield, has been poaching more carries from Martinez every week. He is also coming off his most efficient game of the season. The Beavers won’t even try to run the ball much tonight against this stout DL, but if they do, it will look more like an RB-by-committee than anything.
I want to fade Damien Martinez tonight. His rushing prop is set at 80.5, after rushing for 81 yards against Wazzou last week. Not only does this look like a “bait line,’ trying to get the public to back his over after cashing at this line last week, who is out there betting on CFB under props?
