Boise State comes into this road game with Memphis with a record of 2-2 and they have not been very impressive so far on the season. The Broncos got their doors blown off in Week 1 against Washington by a score of 56-19, and to be fair to Boise State, Washington is doing that to a lot of teams but still it was not a good performance in any way, shape, or form.

Boise State vs. Memphis Prediction
In that game, Boise State allowed 568 yards of total offense including 490 yards through the air and did not force a single turnover. They then followed that performance up by allowing 530 yards to UCF including 272 yards through the air and 258 yards on the ground. Boise State has been gashed by nearly every opponent they have faced this season. In their last game against San Diego State, they gave up 31 points and 439 yards to one of the worst offenses in the Mountain West.
San Diego State is a very anemic offense and the fact that they were able to have so much success against Boise State was very telling. The Aztecs also fumbled at the one yard line into the end zone for a touchback on the opening possession so they really should have won that game when you consider that they only lost by three points after that.
On the season to this point, the Boise State defense is ranked 132nd out of 133 qualified FBS teams in average yards allowed per play (8.0), only behind Nevada for worst in the nation. They are also ranked 130th in passing yards allowed per game, 131st in average opponent passer rating, and dead last (133rd) in average passing yards allowed per attempt (11.6). So, basically any time a team attempts a pass against Boise State, they are gaining a first down.
Boise State has a historically bad passing defense at the moment, and I do not see how they are going to slow down this Memphis passing attack. Memphis is led by Junior quarterback, Seth Henigan, who is entering as his third year as the starter for this Memphis squad and he has been very solid during his tenure as the lead signal caller. Henigan is completing just under 70% of his passes on the season and is averaging just under 300 yards passing per game.
Memphis as a whole is averaging around 400 total yards per game and I just do not see how this Boise State defense is going to slow them down. On the other side for Boise State, they are having a lot of consistency issues on offense with Taylen Green at quarterback. He has not taken the next step that many thought he would this season and I am not sure that the Broncos are going to be able to just run the ball up and down the field like they have to this point.
Memphis gets to come back home after suffering their first loss of the season against a solid Missouri team, but all of their conference goals are still in front of them, and this is a great get right spot at home against a very weak Boise State defense.
Memphis has played very well at home over the past few seasons, and I think they get the job done today in a good bounce back spot. With that being said, I am rolling with Memphis ML at -140 for 1.5u as one of my most confident College Football Plays of the Day for tonight's action.
