Alabama vs. Texas A&M Prediction, Pick, Odds: Expect Jalen Milroe, Alabama to Step Up

The Alabama Crimson Tide finally showcased their offense last weekend against Mississippi State.

Alabama scored 40 points after scoring no more than 24 in their previous three games.

The Crimson Tide might need that same type of output against the Texas A&M Aggies this weekend.

The Aggies are 4-1 on the season with a gut-wrenching early loss to the Hurricanes. But they've turned things around recently, earning three straight wins.

Texas A&M has ruled former starting quarterback Connor Weigman out for the season. So now it's Max Johnson's turn under center. He might be an upgrade for the Aggies.

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Saturday's SEC matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas A&M Aggies.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas A&M Aggies Prediction

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost to Texas less than a month ago. After that loss, many analysts exclaimed that Alabama wasn't what it used to be.

Since that moment, Alabama has scratched and clawed their way to three straight wins. The biggest one was against Mississippi State last weekend, where the Crimson Tide earned a 40-17 victory.

Alabama doesn't have a top-tier quarterback this season. But Jalen Milroe has proven to the team that he's the guy to lead Alabama this season.

Milroe has thrown for 838 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions. But he's also mobile and able to make plays with his feet.

The Crimson Tide have earned 363.2 yards per game on offense, with 167.8 yards on the ground. That's thanks to Milroe and Jase McClellan, who has added 4.9 yards per carry on 67 attempts this season.

Alabama will face a Texas A&M defense that has been above average. But they're not elite at any position. The Aggies have missed a boatload of tackles but have allowed only 253.8 yards per game on defense.

Alabama won't rack the yards, but the Crimson Tide will get them when needed.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M has averaged 443.4 yards per game on offense. Since Max Johnson took over for Weigman, he's 37-for-59 with a 62.7% completion percentage. He's also thrown six touchdowns and just one interception.

He and Weigman were in a close battle for the starting job in the offseason. Johnson, being the new quarterback, won't hurt the Aggies much. He's got a lot of starter experience with his former team, LSU.

But he'll have to navigate against one of the best defenses in the nation. Alabama has allowed under 300 yards as well. They've also been one of the best secondaries in the country and typically dominate against the run.

Neither team will dominate this game. It'll be a close one. But I'd be surprised if Alabama's defense wasn't the difference in this game.

If Milroe and Alabama can limit turnovers, they'll escape A&M with a win and a cover.
