Notre Dame vs. Louisville Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Sam Hartman, Fighting Irish Run Up the Score?

The Louisville Cardinals are 5-0 to begin the season.

The Cardinals brought in Jeff Brohm from Purdue after Scott Satterfield left for Cincinnati.

It was a winning move for the Cardinals.

Brohm has the Cardinals ranked in the AP Top 25. He's also helped Louisville start 5-0 for the first time since 2013. The Cardinals are also a perfect 3-0 in ACC conference play for the first time since joining the conference in 2014.

Notre Dame is an independent and not an ACC team in college football. But they beat the Duke Blue Devils last weekend in a significant ACC showdown.

Notre Dame hasn't lost a regular season game to an ACC opponent since 2017.

Can Louisville be the first team to earn the feat?

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Louisville Cardinals Prediction

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish added former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman in the offseason in the transfer portal.

He was supposed to take them to the top.

While Hartman has played well while leading the group, Notre Dame hasn't called his number enough. They're not putting him in positions to succeed.

Hartman has thrown 14 touchdowns with no interceptions but only has 1458 yards passing. The Fighting Irish have played six games, and plenty of quarterbacks have more passing yards than Hartman.

Still, the offense has averaged 461.2 yards per game, with 192.2 yards coming on the ground. Audric Estime has added 672 yards with seven touchdowns as the lead running back. He's already earned 95 carries and has averaged 7.1 yards.

Notre Dame will face an above-average Louisville defense. The Cardinals haven't dominated defensively in any position, but they don't have any holes.

The Cardinals have held teams to 327.8 yards per game, including only 218.2 yards in the air. They'll give Notre Dame some trouble and should at least be able to hold the run game to under five yards per carry.

On the other hand, Louisville's offense has a lot of speed. They've averaged 494.8 yards per game, adding over 300 yards in the air.

Transfer quarterback Jack Plummer has thrown 11 touchdowns but also has six interceptions. He'll need to limit turnovers because Notre Dame rarely turns the ball over on offense.

The Fighting Irish have missed a lot of tackles on the defensive end, but they've still held teams to 271 yards a night. Notre Dame even faced Ohio State and has those numbers.

Notre Dame is dominant against the run. They'll force Plummer to make some plays. Plummer will likely be forced into multiple errors.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame will likely run the football a lot.

Therefore, I'll be on the Under in this one.
