Harvard enters this Friday night matchup with a record of 3-0 and are riding high after one of the more impressive wins of the FCS football season of any team so far. They went on the road and beat highly ranked and highly regarded Holy Cross by a score of 38-28 in a game where Harvard was a 17-point underdog.

Cornell vs. Harvard Prediction
Harvard gave up a lot of yards to highly regarded quarterback for Holy Cross, Matthew Sluka, as he totaled over 400 yards of offense, but he did throw three very costly interceptions as Harvard won the turnover battle five to zero. Even though Holy Cross has one of the best players in FCS College Football, losing the turnover battle 5-0 is hard for any player or team to overcome and Harvard took full advantage.
Harvard has won the turnover battle on the season by a tally of 9-2 and that will likely be the deciding factor in this game. If Cornell can take care of the ball and move the sticks consistently, they have a great chance to stay in this game or win outright as the Harvard defense has been giving up a lot of yards.
We saw Brown compete with this Harvard team a few weeks ago as they were 17-point dogs on the road at Harvard and nearly won straight up but lost the game by a score of 34-31. In that game, Brown did not have a single turnover and failed to convert a fourth and goal at the one in the first half of that game which could have been the game winning score if they had been able to convert.
In Harvard's three games to this point they have allowed 312, 447, and 468 total yards to St. Thomas, Brown, and Holy Cross. They have actually been outgained on the season from a yardage standpoint as they have allowed a total of 1,227 yards and only gained 1,171. Turnovers have been the difference for this Crimson team as they are actually being outgained by an average of just under 20 yards per game.
Cornell is coming off a very bad performance against Colgate where they lost straight up 35-25 as 12-point favorites but this is a prime bounce back spot for them against a very vulnerable Harvard squad. A few weeks ago, we saw Cornell go on the road into Yale, another perennial power in the Ivy League, and won straight up 23-21 as 14.5-point dogs. They find themselves in a very similar situation tonight as two touchdown underdogs against a Harvard team primed for a letdown after getting their biggest win in years against Holy Cross last week.
Jameson Wang is the starting QB for Cornell and he has done an excellent job at protecting the football so far this season as he has not thrown an interception through three games and is averaging 240 yards through the air per game. He is also a threat with his legs as he is averaging 61 yards per game on the ground but has had an issue with fumbling to this point which I do expect him to rectify after two costly fumbles against Colgate last week.
Cornell's defense has also been very strong this season as they are allowing just over 300 yards per game (312) and were able to shutdown Yale in their own stadium which is a very comparable matchup to tonight. Overall, the talent level of these teams is very similar and if Cornell can take care of the ball, they should have a great chance to win the game straight up. With that being said, I am rolling with Cornell +14 at -120 (Bought Hook, still like +13.5) for 2U as one of my most confident College Football plays of the day for tonight's action.
