Colorado is coming off a less than impressive win over Arizona State as they kicked a field goal in the final seconds to escape with a win, but a win nonetheless. Can the Buffaloes start a bit faster in the first half of their game tonight against Stanford? Let's break it down.
ANALYSIS

Stanford vs. Colorado Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Colorado enters this Friday night home game with Stanford with a record of 4-2 with their only losses coming on the road at Oregon and at home to USC. These are two very respectable losses as they were three touchdown underdogs in each of those games and even came back in the second half against USC to make that game close, as the final score was 48 to 41.

Stanford vs. Colorado Prediction

Last week against Arizona State, they found themselves down early before coming back in the second half to eventually win the game on a last second field goal. That win was huge for Colorado’s bowl hopes as they now find themselves as 12.5 point favorites at home tonight over a Stanford team who has been one of the worst teams in the Pac 12.

Stanford enters this game with a record of 1-4 with their lone win coming in Week 1 against a really bad Hawaii team. Since they’re win against Hawaii, they have not shown many signs of life as they got blown out by USC and Oregon by a combined score of 98-16 and also lost at home to FCS Sacramento State. Stanford’s below average defense has certainly been an issue for them this season, but they’re inability to find consistency at the quarterback position has been their main issue as they simply do not have enough firepower on offense to move the ball consistently to score enough points to stay in these games with the better teams in the Pac 12.

Stanford only combined for 1 offensive touchdown against USC and Oregon, and while Oregon’s defense has proved to be well above average we saw how USC’s defense has looked so far and the fact that Stanford was only able to score ten points on the Trojans is not a very good sign. Against USC, Oregon, and Arizona, the Cardinal offense was only able to average 308 total yards while allowing an average of 478. They were out-gained by nearly 200 yards across three straight games against conference opponents which is nearly unheard of.

Stanford is simply not the same team or program that we are accustomed to seeing as they are one of the worst teams on both sides of the ball in the Pac 12 this season, and I fully expect the Colorado offense to get back to their level of play as we saw them in the first few games of the season.

Colorado’s best player, Travis Hunter, is also set to return tonight from his lacerated liver, which should give the buffaloes a huge boost on both sides of the ball, as he was one of their top receivers on offense, while also being their best defensive back. The the Stanford offense is already anemic enough and now Colorado gets their best defensive player back, which should also energize the Colorado team on both sides of the ball as well.

We saw Stanford come out fairly strong against Oregon as they were only down 14 to six at halftime before getting out scored 28 to zero in the second half of that game. On the other side, Colorado has started a bit slow over their last four games as they have failed to cover a first half since their second game of the season against Nebraska.

With Travis Hunter back in the mix for Colorado this evening, I fully expect this Colorado team to have a boost of energy and come out extremely strong at home in the first half of this game as their offense should fire on all cylinders against this very weak Stanford defense. With that being said, I am rolling with Colorado first half -6.5 at -115 for 1.5u as one of my most confident College Football plays of the day for tonight’s action.
