One of the more intriguing SEC clashes on Saturday goes down in Neyland Stadium, as the Tennessee Volunteers host the Texas A&M Aggies in a game that promises high stakes, with the Volunteers still having their eyes set on a potential playoff spot if they can win out and make it to the SEC Championship. On the other side, Texas A&M is looking to get its spot in the top-25 back, and they nearly did it last week in a 20-26 loss to Alabama. Tennessee is a short 3-point favorite to get it done on Saturday afternoon. Can they move to 5-1?

Tennessee enters this game with a 4-1 record, having secured a crucial conference win over South Carolina and a well-deserved bye week to rest and prepare. Their lone loss this season came against the Florida Gators, a team they haven't beaten in Gainesville since 2003. Tennessee finished at No. 6 in the AP Poll last season and went 11-2, going on to defeat No. 13 Clemson in the Orange Bowl. Tennessee's loss to South Carolina last season likely thwarted their shot at the CFP, but if they win out this season, they could have a chance. This home game will not be an easy one, but it is a winnable one.
Texas A&M, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back after a hard-fought loss to No. 11 Alabama, a game they had a chance to win but fell short. Coach Nick Saban said after that game "This may be the record game for me, in terms of messing up and still winning", which has to hurt if you are an Aggie. With a 4-2 record, the Aggies have dropped out of the rankings and have no hope of even sniffing a playoff appearance.
Momentum is a big factor in this game. Texas A&M is coming off their second loss of the season, and it happened at home. Now they have to travel to Neyland Stadium, where the Vols have won 12 straight games. Tennessee, meanwhile, has rolled through two easier opponents and has had a bye week to prepare for this game. Tennessee is rolling right now, and halfway through the season with one loss, they have their eyes on a top-four spot still.
Tennessee may not have Hendon Hooker anymore, but in his place is super-senior Joe Milton. Milton is in his sixth season and has veteran experience under center. This is his third season at Tennessee, and he has looked great in his senior year. It also helps that he has an outstanding receiving corps made up of Squirrel White, Ramel Keyton, and Bru McCoy (Out for this game) who bring veteran experience out wide.
This game comes down to who's under center for me. The Aggies' starting QB Conner Weigman is out with an injury, so Max Johnson will start once again. Johnson was 14-25 with 239 yards with one touchdown and one interception against Alabama last week. He played okay, but Tennessee with Milton under center and his veteran receivers is just a more well-oiled machine. Tennessee is playing very well at home, and this is their last home game before traveling to Bama next week and Kentucky the week after. This is a must-win game for them, and I expect their offense to outplay the Aggie's offense.
