In NCAAF Week 8, Air Force takes on Navy during the early afternoon slate. Can the Midshipmen shock the Falcons? NCAAF expert Krabs breaks down this game.
ANALYSIS

Air Force vs. Navy Prediction: Can the Midshipmen Shock the Falcons?

Week 8’s CFB slate is filled with plenty of great matchups. One of the earlier games on the slate that is catching my eye would be this Air Force vs. Navy game at noon ET on Saturday. The 6-0 No. 22-ranked Falcons head to Annapolis for what should be an epic battle between two very familiar teams. Will the Midshipmen shock the world with an upset at home, or will Air Force stay undefeated without their star QB?

Air Force vs. Navy Date, Time, and Where to Watch

Air Force vs. Navy Prediction

One of the main reasons why Air Force has been so successful this year has been their quarterback, Zac Carrier. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they will be without their star QB under center for this contest. Without Carrier, this offense is flat. Look for Navy to capitalize on Carrier’s absence at home.

The Midshipmen also have some questions under center this weekend. Blake Horvath is injured, and their veteran QB Tai Lavatai is questionable this weekend after getting hurt in Navy’s last game. The Mids might have to turn to freshman QB Braxton Woodson in this contest. Either way, it really doesn’t matter who’s under center for Navy; all that matters is their run game.

Air Force enters this contest undefeated, and finally ranked in the AP Poll. If you’ve looked at who Air Force has actually played this season, you’d realize that their easy strength of schedule has probably played a role in their undefeated record. Navy has played a much tougher schedule to start the season, and their defense has gotten better every week. They are coming off a shutout performance against Charlotte, a team who doesn’t throw the ball much if at all. Navy will be over-prepared for this matchup against an offense they run themselves, and a scheme they’ve recently faced.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Navy shocks the world and wins this game outright. The ten points they’re giving us on the spread a gift, and this number is only going to get shorter as we get closer to kick-off. Lock in the Midshipmen at +10 before this line gets any shorter. Navy always shows up against the other military academies, and Saturday’s matchup against Air Force without their star QB won’t be any difference. This game will come down to the last possession.
