Wake Forest vs. Pittsburgh Prediction

Wake Forest has been a tough team to handicap this season as one week they nearly lost to Old Dominion and got blown out by Virginia Tech, but then they also nearly knocked off Clemson on the road as 21.5-point underdogs.

Wake Forest has had a lot of issues this season on offense as they have failed to top 20 points in their last three games and have turned the ball over a lot with a ton of sacks to boot. Wake Forest was sacked seven times against Virginia Tech and has turned the ball over eight times in their last three games.

Last week, Pittsburgh knocked off undefeated Louisville in what turned into a second-half route as the Panthers were down at halftime before outscoring the Cardinals 24-0 in the second half.

While this was a very impressive win for Pitt, it still has not been a great season for them to this point as they are just 2-4 with their only win against an FBS opponent coming last week over Louisville. On the season to this point, Pitt is ranked 129th out of 133 FBS teams in offensive yards per game (269), 115th in yards per play (4.5), 121st in 3rd down conversion percentage (29.5%), 116th in yards per rush (3.0), and 88th in yards per pass (6.7). They are also 105th in offensive sack percentage so they have given up a lot of sacks and pressure to this point. Even in their blowout win against Louisville, the Cardinals outgained Pitt 444 to 288 but the Panthers were aided by 3 Louisville turnovers.

I was on Pitt last week as this was a fantastic situational fade of Louisville after a blowout win over Notre Dame and now the shoe is on the other foot. This is a fantastic situational fade of Pitt who has shown little to no consistency on the season after notching a somewhat fluke win where they won by 17 but were outgained by over 150+ yards.

Pitt has played just 2 road games to this point where they scored 6 points with 211 yards of offense against West Virginia in a 17-6 loss and 21 points with 273 total yards of offense in a blowout loss to Virginia Tech by the score of 38-21. Pitt simply has a talent issue at the moment as they have not passed the eye test all season and Wake Forest's defense has certainly been formidable and shown a pulse.

I think Wake Forest gets back on track at home and Pittsburgh regresses back to their mean of being a bottom-of-the-barrel ACC team. With that being said, I am rolling with WAKE FOREST ML at -102 for 2U as one of my Most Confident College Football Plays of the Day for today's action.
