Washington State vs. Arizona State Prediction: Can Cam Ward, Cougars Get Back on Track?

Washington State has fallen off the rails a bit the last few weeks after blowout losses to Arizona and Oregon. Can I get back on track against the Sun Devils tonight? Let’s break it down.

Washington State vs. Arizona State Prediction

Washington State had a very promising start to its season as its offense was firing on all cylinders from the get-go Oregon State in very impressive fashion as they were .Then, in its first test of the season, the Cougs took down Oklahoma State and were able to put up 38 points behind an extremely high-powered offense. That success was short-lived as the Cougars have been sputtering over the past few weeks, losing to UCLA, Arizona, and Oregon. Their game against UCLA was a close one as they lost 25-17, but their next two losses came in blowout fashion, including a 44-6 home loss to Arizona, which was one of the more pathetic performances from any Power 5 team this season.

The Cougars do not have a strong run game so they rely heavily on the arm of Cam Ward to make plays through the air, and he has simply not played his best ball over the past month. While Ward has been struggling, I do think he and this Washington State offense get back on track today.

The Sun Devils' defense has been formidable for most of the season to this point, but it has been their offense that has been unable to score to keep them in games. This was also the case against Washington, as they were only able to score seven total points.

I do not see the Arizona State defense having the same type of game that they had against Washington in this one. The Sun Devils have also now played in three excruciatingly close games in a row, and I am just not sure how much gas they have left in the tank. On the other side, Washington State is playing for a potential bowl berth at the end of the season, and this is a must-win game if they are to get to a bowl this season.

I also believe their offense is due for some positive regression after two below-average games against Arizona and Oregon. Cam Ward and this high-powered offense should get back on track and I think the Cougars have a field day in Tempe tonight. With that being said, I am rolling with WASHINGTON STATE -4.5 at -110 for 1.5u as one of my Most Confident College Football Plays of the Day for tonight’s action.
