Boston College vs. Syracuse Prediction: Can Garrett Shrader, Syracuse Stop Losing Streak at Home?
Boston College has been one of the bigger surprises of the college football season in my opinion as I am not sure anyone expected this team to be 5-3 at this point. They also very well could be 6-2 as they narrowly lost to Florida State in a valiant effort as 28.5-point underdogs as they only lost by two points.

Boston College vs. Syracuse Prediction
Boston College's quarterback, Thomas Castellanos, has taken a lot of steps forward as a signal caller this season and is one of the more dangerous dual threat QBs in the ACC. Castellanos is averaging 194 passing yards per game and is also Boston College's leading rusher as he is averaging 85 yards per game on the ground. While Castellanos and this Boston College offense is much improved, they have been facing some of the worst defenses in the country over the past few weeks.
In Boston College's last four games (all wins) they have faced Virginia, Army, Georgia Tech, and UConn... not exactly murder's row of defenses there and Boston College really should have or could have lost coin flip games against Virginia, Army, and Holy Cross. But I do give them credit for squeaking out some close wins and clutching up when it matters. They will have a tough test tonight though against a Syracuse team who is better than their metrics may indicate.
Garrett Shrader and Syracuse had a brutal scheduling stretch where they had to face Clemson, North Carolina, and Florida State in back to back to back weeks and just seemed to run out of gas in all of those games. They have also been on the road for three straight weeks now and I think they will get a boost of energy tonight being back at home. Syracuse's games against the likes of Purdue or Army are much more comparable to this matchup with Boston College in my opinion as well. In those matchups with Purdue and Army, the Orange outgained Purdue 455 to 403 and forced four turnovers.
Syracuse then outgained Army 403 to 270 and again won the turnover battle and forced multiple turnovers. Boston College has had an issue with turnovers this season as they are averaging 1.4 turnovers per game while only forcing 1.1 per game so they have lost the turnover battle more than they have won.
Syracuse has the edge when it comes to comparing these defenses this season and The Orange forced at least two sacks in each of their first four games and also forced ten turnovers in those four games against opponents who are much more similar to Boston College in terms of talent level. With that being said, I am rolling with Syracuse ML at -130 for 1.5U as one of my most confident college football plays of the day for tonight's action.
