Georgia Southern's defense and turnovers on offense have been their two main issues for them all season in their losses and were a huge part of why they were blown out last weekend against Texas State. Georgia Southern allowed 487 yards to the Bobcats, did not force a single turnover, and turned the ball over twice which ended up in a three touchdown road loss.

One thing that Georgia Southern has done extremely well this season though, is bounce back after a loss. after a loss to Wisconsin in mid-September where they actually played adequately, they crushed Ball State on the road 40-3.
After a road loss to the best team in the conference JMU in blowout fashion 41-13, they followed that up with a 38-28 win over ULM in which they put up 417 yards of offense and forced 4 turnovers. Today they face a Marshall team who may be becoming a corpse right in front of our eyes over the past month.
Marshall's Sun Belt title and bowl hopes are quickly dwindling as they have lost five games in a row and not been super competitive in any of them. Marshall has failed score more than nine points in any of their last three games against Coastal Carolina (six), JMU (nine), and App State (nine), which is even more concerning when you figure in that none of those teams have elite defenses.
Turnovers have been an issue for Georgia Southern, but they have been an even bigger issue for Marshall over the second half of the season as they turned the ball over three times against App state (while forcing zero), five times against Coastal Carolina (while forcing one), two times against JMU (while forcing one), once against Georgia State (while forcing zero), and three times against NC State (forced three).
Marshall has been extremely careless with the ball this season as they have turned the ball over at least once in every game this season and have multiple turnovers in six of their nine games to this point. The Goergia Southern Defense has been a bend but dont break group but they have done an exceptional job at forcing turnovers, especially when coming off a game where they did not force a single takeaway (no takeaways against Texas State).
The Eagles forced four turnovers against ULM after not recording a single takeaway against JMU in the week prior and I fully expect them to force multiple turnovers in this game against Marshall which should set up their offense with good field position against a Marshall defense that has been deteriorating with each passing week. With that being said, I am rolling with Georgia Southern ML at -117 for 2U as I think they keep their Sun Belt title hopes alive with a solid road performance against Marshall tonight.
