Colorado vs Utah Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Deion Sanders, Buffaloes Shine In Rumble in the Rockies?

4 New The Pac-12 gives us a mid-afternoon kickoff between Colorado and Utah in Week 13. The Buffaloes have lost five consecutive games after starting 3-0 and generating a ton of hype and expectations around their program with head coach Deion Sanders and his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, looking impressive early on.

It's been a much different narrative since the losses began to pile up though, starting with a 42-6 blowout loss on the road against Oregon in late September. Colorado has lost to three straight ranked teams, while also blowing a massive lead to Stanford in historic fashion. Sanders is now day-to-day with an upper body injury sustained during a 56-14 loss to Washington State last week.

Utah's season started with a ton of hope and aspirations as well, going 4-0, including a huge 14-7 win over No. 22 UCLA back in late September. Since then, the Utes have only won three of their past seven games played, losing a back-and-forth contest to No. 5 Washington before getting routed 42-18 by Arizona this past weekend. Cam Rising's knee injury looms large over the Utes 7-4 season, as none of their quarterback options have been consistent enough to produce points at a high rate.

NCAAF handicapper Matt MacKay is back with his latest prediction and pick for Colorado vs. Utah in Week 13.

COLORADO VS. UTAH PREDICTION

Utah has owned this head-to-head matchup, winning five straight games outright against Colorado. Oddsmakers are leaning heavily into the Utes' direction, giving the Buffaloes +21.5 ATS on the road at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Utah is 29th in opponent points allowed per game (20.0), while Colorado's offense has regressed, ranking 55th in points per game (29.2) but being held under 20 points in three of its past four games played. On offense, the Utes deploy a run-centric scheme with Ja'Quinden Jackson and Jaylon Glover as a one-two punch in its backfield. However, quarterback Bryson Barnes is set up for success against Colorado, which has allowed two-plus rushing and receiving touchdowns in four of its past five games played.

The point total line is 2-4 in favor of the under at Rice-Eccles Stadium this season. Currently, we're getting 52.5 with -110 odds in either direction. Utah hasn't played at home in two weeks, but their last outing was a 55-3 win over Arizona State, which is the same team that took Colorado to the wire in a 27-24 win for the Buffaloes, their last victory in the past six games played.

-1800 moneyline odds for Utah is an absurd price to pay. The spread of -21.5 is enticing. Both teams are 6-4-1 ATS this season, but Utah has defeated two of its past three opponents at home, excluding Oregon, by at least 20 points. Colorado's defense is porous and their offense is sputtering as well, so investing in the Utes' to win by 22 points seems like a good investment to make. However, Utah tends to get burned in the passing game, allowing two straight 325-yard performances for six passing touchdowns entering Week 13, which means the Buffaloes could hang some points on the board.

It's a tough decision, but ultimately, Utah's defense should reign supreme, while Colorado continues to falter on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Let's stake a unit on the Utes' to cover -21.5 ATS at -115 odds during a return home in Week 13.
