Oregon State vs. Oregon Prediction
The Oregon Ducks are major favorites against Oregon State. But I'm not so sure about that.
The Oregon State Beavers might've lost to Washington last weekend, but the score finished at 22-20. The Beavers were in the game throughout and played well against an undefeated Washington team.
Oregon State's offense has averaged nearly 38 points per game behind D.J. Uiagalelei, who came to Oregon State from the transfer portal.
He's added 20 passing touchdowns and six interceptions but has thrown for 2,418 yards. The passing game is solid, but the running game is what keeps the offense moving at a high pace.
Damien Martinez has added 1,147 yards on 181 carries for the Beavers. He's scored nine touchdowns and has gained 6.3 yards per carry. Martinez is regarded as one of the best runners in the Pac-12.
But while Oregon State adds 196.9 yards per game on the ground, Oregon's defense has allowed just 94.7 yards per game on the ground. The Ducks are very fundamentally sound, converting on most tackles this season. The secondary is also highly competitive, with an above-average front.
Meanwhile, the Oregon offense has added 46.3 points per game under Bo Nix. Nix is in consideration for the Heisman. He's thrown for 35 touchdowns and just two interceptions, with 3,539 yards passing. Oregon has thrown for 338.1 yards per game. However, they've also added 200.6 yards on the ground, with Bucky Irving leading the way.
Irving just notched over 1,000 yards last weekend against Arizona State.
But with Oregon State holding teams to 102.4 yards per game on the ground, I also don't expect Oregon's offense to be extremely good, either.
While Washington and Oregon State played in poor weather last weekend, the Huskies still only scored 22 points against Oregon State.
The Beavers have an awesome secondary, holding opponents to just 204.4 yards per game in the air. The run defense is also comparable to the Ducks.
Therefore, I'll take the Under despite the potential Heisman candidate playing in his final regular season game of the year. I'll be daring.
