The Louisville Cardinals will take on the Clemson Tigers on Saturday night from Memorial Stadium in South Carolina. Louisville will try to play spoiler against the No. 11 Tigers, who have been on a roll in the last seven games.
Clemson may have gotten blown out by Georgia in Week 1, but they are looking more and more like a playoff team each week. They are on a collision course with the Miami Hurricanes in the ACC Championship, but have to survive a few more tests to make it there. The Louisville defense can't stop anyone, and that's the one problem with this pick. They gave up 52 to Miami in a home loss, despite the offense playing phenomenal. They had a million chances to win the game, but couldn't come up with a stop in the shootout. 34 to SMU, 31 to Notre Dame, and 27 to Boston College that almost resulted in another loss but was saved by the offensive comeback once again.
Tyler Shough and the Cardinals offense can run with the entire ACC, and they've proved it week in and week out. They most recently charged back against BC last week on Friday night, putting up 24 points in the second half after trailing by double digits. They trailed often against Miami and SMU as well, but ended up losing by only a touchdown in each. Their comeback ability will be important tonight if Clemson starts hot, and they'll use the offense to create a backdoor cover. But if they start hot, they can put extreme pressure on Clemson under the lights.
Clemson has been running it up in the conference schedule after their initial loss to Georgia. The success may be coming to an end tonight against an explosive Louisville group who is never out of a game. Getting 10 points with them is a solid opportunity, as Clemson could be on upset alert ahead of two more huge ACC games against Virginia Tech and Pitt over the next couple of weeks. We're going to grab the road underdog here to put up a fight and potentially surprise the 11th-ranked squad who hasn't been tested since the early season.
