Northern Illinois comes into this contest with a record of 6-4 after locking up bowl eligibility with a win over Akron last week. Northern Illinois won its biggest game in program history earlier in the season, defeating Notre Dame 16-14 on the road.

The win sent the Huskies into the top-25 rankings, but they lost back-to-back games to drop them out of the Top 25.
