The Alabama Crimson Tide have stepped on the gas in recent weeks after a rocky middle of the season stretch. They were stunned by Vanderbilt, barely escaped against a much-improved South Carolina team, and choked it away against Tennessee to wrap up a rocky October.

But through it all, Kalen DeBoer and the Tide are knocking on the door of the SEC Championship once again, with a chance to secure a first round bye. They've been playing much better football, shutting down a trio of opponents including ranked Mizzou and LSU. Jalen Milroe has been more careful with the rock, limiting turnovers and taking advantage of the opportunities presented to him without forcing the issue. They just need to avoid an upset tonight on the road to keep the train rolling, so let's take a look at the latest Alabama vs. Oklahoma odds and see how this one will go.

Alabama vs. Oklahoma Prediction

We're going to be making two picks in this game, and will start by breaking down the total. Both of these teams are arriving with solid defenses, although Bama has the obvious advantage. They rank 10th in scoring defense at just 18 points per game, and the Sooners aren't much further behind at 22.8. These groups have experienced success throughout the SEC season and lend us in the direction of the under, even with most bets filing in on the over.

Despite just 13% of tickets taking the under tonight, there is 40% of the money and the line has continued to drop from the original 47.5. We're going to hop on with that side, with the belief that OU won't be able to pull their own weight tonight against the Bama defense.

The main aspect of this is relying on Oklahoma's offensive struggles. Jackson Arnold has been in and out as the starter this year, and hasn't been able to find much consistency outside of a few scattered showings. The Sooners mustered only a few field goals until the final minutes against Mizzou in their last outing, before fumbling the game away with just seconds remaining. Mizzou has a good defense, but Bama's is a few levels better, and Arnold is going to struggle tonight against this Tide group. Even if Jalen Milroe and the Alabama offense rolls early on, this could end up like a 35-10 game and still go under the total.

Justice Haynes is the second running back behind Jam Miller, and has nearly the same amount of rushing yards despite 35 fewer carries on the year. Haynes is getting targeted today because he has a nose for the end zone, and despite only eight or so touches per game, he continues to find a way to score. Haynes has a touchdown in four of their last five games, only missing in a blowout against Mercer last week where other backups got opportunities. Haynes is a bruising back at 210 pounds, and gets a lot of work in the red zone over the smaller Miller.
