The BYU Cougars and the Arizona State Sun Devils will meet on Saturday afternoon from Tempe, Arizona for one of the most important Big 12 games of the year. No one thought we would be saying that in September, but this game could send one of these two teams on the path to the College Football Playoff.
BYU enters the contest with a record of 9-1, ranking the Cougars 14th in the nation. The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season last weekend at home against Kansas. The good news for BYU is that they control their destiny. The Cougars will play in the Big 12 Championship if they win their last two games.
Next weekend, the Cougars will host the 4-6 Houston Cougars. Many believe that if BYU wins today, they will be a part of the Big 12 championship.
