Boise State travels to Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon to face No. 2 Oregon. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on CBS, with the Ducks favored by 24.5 points in Dan Lanning’s fifth season opener.
Oregon enters as a national championship contender after reaching last season’s CFP semifinal, while Boise State is trying to rebound from an uneven nine-win season. The Broncos still return veteran quarterback Maddux Madsen and one of the better running back tandems outside the Power Four.
Boise State vs. Oregon Recent Results
Boise State went 9-5 overall and 6-2 in Mountain West play last season. The Broncos beat UNLV 38-21 to win the conference championship before finishing with a 38-10 loss to Washington in the LA Bowl. Their season was volatile, with seven-point offensive performances against South Florida, Notre Dame, Fresno State and San Diego State mixed among several 40-point outbursts.
Oregon finished 13-2 overall and 8-1 in Big Ten play. The Ducks beat James Madison 51-34 and shut out Texas Tech 23-0 in the CFP before Indiana ended their season with a 56-22 semifinal loss in the Peach Bowl.

Boise State vs. Oregon Line Movement and Betting Splits
The spread has remained almost completely stationary around Oregon -24.5 despite enormous support for the Ducks, who have 86% of spread bets and 89% of the money. There is no meaningful contrarian spread signal, with both the public and overall handle heavily behind Oregon.
The total is much more interesting. The Over has attracted 90% of bets and 94% of the money, yet the number has moved down from an opener around 52.5 to 51.5. That disconnect between overwhelming Over action and a falling total makes the Under the more intriguing market position.
Boise State vs. Oregon Prediction
Oregon has every offensive weapon needed to explode, beginning with Moore. He completed 72% of his passes for 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns last season and bypassed the NFL Draft to return for another run at a national championship. Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill return in the backfield, while Evan Stewart is healthy again at receiver.
The question is how quickly the new offensive line comes together. Center Iapani Laloulu returns, but Oregon is replacing multiple starters around him and sorting through a combination of young players and newcomers. That unit should eventually become a strength because of the talent level, but an opener against Boise State’s experienced defensive front is not an easy first assignment.
Boise State has the personnel to test that transition. Max Stege and Jayden Virgin-Morgan headline an aggressive defensive front, and the Broncos’ 4-2-5 structure is much more settled up front than in the secondary. Generating early pressure without blitzing heavily would be the best way to prevent Moore from immediately turning this into a track meet.
The other matchup is even more favorable for an Under. Boise State wants to play through the running game, with Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley combining for nearly 2,000 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season. A run-heavy plan can shorten the game even when the Broncos are moving the chains successfully.
The problem is that Oregon may have the best interior defensive line Boise State sees all season. The Broncos are integrating several new pieces along their offensive line, and their passing game was inconsistent whenever stronger opponents took away the run last season. Boise scored seven points against Notre Dame, seven against Fresno State, seven against San Diego State and 10 against Washington.
Madsen’s experience should prevent Boise from becoming completely one-dimensional, but Oregon does not need to give up many points for the Under to remain viable. A Ducks lead could actually slow the pace in the second half if Lanning begins leaning on the run and protecting Moore.
Oregon should control this game physically, but a dominant Ducks performance does not require a huge total. A strong defensive showing against Boise State’s reconstructed line could leave the Broncos around 10 to 14 points, forcing Oregon to do most of the work toward 52.

The market behavior is difficult to ignore. The Over is attracting 90% of tickets and 94% of the money, yet the total has fallen from approximately 52.5 to 51.5 rather than moving upward with that overwhelming action.
The matchup supports the move. Oregon is breaking in multiple offensive-line starters, while Boise State’s best offensive path is a run-heavy approach that keeps the clock moving. On the other side, the Broncos’ new-look line faces an elite Oregon defensive front after struggling to score against top competition last season. Oregon can win comfortably without this game becoming a shootout.
