Delaware and Middle Tennessee kick off Week 7 with a 7:00 PM ET matchup at Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium. Both teams enter at 2-3 overall and 0-1 in Conference USA, making Tuesday an important opportunity to avoid an 0-2 start in league play.
Delaware has dropped consecutive games against Virginia and Liberty, while Middle Tennessee has been outscored 78-13 across losses to Jacksonville State and Kansas. The current market has moved close to a true toss-up, with Delaware available at -110 on the moneyline.
Delaware vs. Middle Tennessee Recent Results
Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (2-3), (0-1 CUSA)
Delaware has had nearly two weeks to regroup after a 30-14 home loss to Liberty. The Blue Hens allowed Liberty to build a 30-0 advantage before producing two late touchdowns, extending a difficult stretch after the 42-3 loss at Virginia.
The quarterback situation contributed to the offensive inconsistency against Liberty. Nick Minicucci had been unavailable, forcing Delaware to work through multiple options while trying to replace the production of an offense that had been much more functional earlier in the season.
Delaware still enters averaging 359.8 total yards and 261 passing yards per game. The passing attack has produced substantially more than the running game, which sits below 100 yards per contest.
The earlier results provide more encouragement. Delaware beat Coastal Carolina 22-14 and pushed Vanderbilt in a 35-26 road loss, showing that the Blue Hens can compete when the offense avoids prolonged empty stretches.
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (2-3), (0-1 CUSA)
Middle Tennessee enters after being shut out 55-0 at Kansas. The Blue Raiders produced almost nothing offensively and were overwhelmed from the opening quarter.
That followed a 23-13 loss at Jacksonville State in the Conference USA opener. Middle Tennessee therefore enters Tuesday having scored only 13 points over its last eight quarters.
The Blue Raiders opened the season much more effectively. They beat Murray State 38-14, lost 28-26 at Marshall and defeated Nevada 27-20 before the offense stalled against stronger competition.
Roman Gagliano has shown enough passing efficiency to keep the offense functional when protected, but Middle Tennessee is averaging only 306.6 total yards per game. The passing attack sits below 185 yards per contest, placing pressure on the rushing game to create manageable downs.
Delaware vs. Middle Tennessee Head to Head
Delaware is 3-0 all-time against Middle Tennessee and won the first meeting between the programs as Conference USA opponents last season.
- October 22, 2025: Delaware 31, Middle Tennessee 28
- October 21, 1978: Delaware 53, Middle Tennessee 3
- October 22, 1977: Delaware 60, Middle Tennessee 7
Last season’s matchup was dramatically more competitive than the first two meetings. Middle Tennessee led 14-7 after the opening quarter, but Delaware scored 24 points across the middle two quarters and held on for a three-point victory.
Delaware also won the only previous meeting in Murfreesboro, although the 1978 result has little direct value more than four decades later.

Delaware vs. Middle Tennessee Line Movement and Betting Splits
Delaware opened closer to a 2.5-point favorite before the market compressed toward -1 to -1.5 depending on the sportsbook. The movement toward Middle Tennessee has also reduced Delaware’s moneyline from the -130 range to roughly even-money territory.
Current sportsbook spread splits still lean toward Delaware, with approximately 65% of tickets and 75% of the handle backing the Blue Hens around -1.5. The moneyline is significantly more balanced, with the ticket and handle distributions sitting much closer to 50%.
The total has also declined from around 48.5 to 47.5. Both teams have struggled offensively recently, so the lower scoring expectation fits a matchup where every possession could carry additional value.
Delaware vs. Middle Tennessee Prediction
Delaware’s recent results are ugly, but the competition provides necessary context. Virginia overwhelmed the Blue Hens with Power Four talent, while Liberty entered their matchup playing some of the best football in Conference USA. Middle Tennessee is a much more manageable opponent.
FairPlay AI creates one of the stronger reasons to prefer Delaware. The projection makes the Blue Hens approximately -4.5 with a 63% win probability, while the current sportsbook market is essentially Delaware -1 with a -110 moneyline. That represents more than three points of difference between the internal projection and the actual spread.
The defensive matchup also favors Delaware. Middle Tennessee is averaging just over 300 yards per game and enters after scoring 13 combined points against Jacksonville State and Kansas. The Blue Raiders have not demonstrated enough explosive offense to make Delaware pay consistently for its own offensive mistakes.
Delaware’s passing advantage becomes particularly important. The Blue Hens average approximately 78 more passing yards per game than Middle Tennessee and hold the stronger overall offensive efficiency numbers. Even with uncertainty at quarterback, there should be opportunities against a Blue Raiders defense allowing more than 400 yards per contest.
Middle Tennessee’s best path is creating turnovers and leaning on its running game. Delaware has averaged more giveaways per game, while the Blue Raiders have generally protected the football better. A couple of short fields could erase Delaware’s broader statistical advantages.
Home field also keeps this from being an easy road-favorite position. Middle Tennessee has already beaten Nevada at Floyd Stadium and nearly won at Marshall, showing the 2-3 record is not completely representative of how competitive the Blue Raiders can be.
The moneyline removes the need for Delaware to create any margin. With FairPlay AI making the Blue Hens a substantially stronger favorite than the sportsbook does, the preferred approach is simply backing Delaware to leave Murfreesboro with the win.
Delaware vs. Middle Tennessee Best Bet
- Best Bet: Delaware Moneyline (-110) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
The spread has fallen enough that the moneyline now carries almost no meaningful premium. Rather than requiring Delaware to cover a short road number, -110 simply asks the Blue Hens to win.
Middle Tennessee has scored only 13 points across its last two games, while Delaware owns the stronger passing offense and the significant FairPlay AI projection advantage. The Blue Hens should have enough offense to improve to 4-0 all-time against Middle Tennessee.
