Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction, Betting Pick, Latest CFB Odds for Saturday, October 17th

The Auburn Tigers head to Athens following an open week for the latest edition of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry against the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs. Can Byrum Brown and Auburn contribute enough offense to help Gunner Stockton and one of the nation's highest-scoring teams push this rivalry beyond a relatively modest total? Check out this Auburn vs. Georgia prediction and best bet for Saturday, October 17.

Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction: How Much Will Gunnar Stockton, Red-Hot Bulldogs Win by on Saturday Afternoon?

Auburn visits No. 1 Georgia at Sanford Stadium for a 3:30 PM ET kickoff on ESPN. The Tigers enter at 3-2 and 1-2 in SEC play, while Georgia is 6-0 and 4-0 after a statement 20-17 road victory over Alabama.

Georgia is favored by 19.5 points, but the total is only 49.5. That creates an interesting setup because the Bulldogs are averaging more than 46 points per game themselves, meaning the Over can cash even if Auburn provides only a modest scoring contribution.

Auburn vs. Georgia Recent Results

Auburn Tigers (3-2), (1-2 SEC)

Auburn has not played since a 24-14 loss at Tennessee on October 3. The Tigers used their open week to regroup before beginning another difficult portion of the schedule.

Byrum Brown produced 266 total yards against Tennessee, including 107 on the ground. His dual-threat ability was responsible for much of Auburn's offense, including a 57-yard run and a rushing touchdown.

The Tigers moved the ball better after halftime and generated a 94-yard touchdown drive in only four plays during the fourth quarter. That provides at least some evidence that Auburn can create explosive offense even against an elite defensive opponent.

Penalties and turnovers remain significant concerns. Auburn committed 11 penalties for 94 yards at Tennessee and threw multiple interceptions, mistakes that become particularly damaging against Georgia.

Georgia Bulldogs (6-0), (4-0 SEC)

Georgia earned its most impressive victory of the season last Saturday, beating Alabama 20-17 in Tuscaloosa. The Bulldogs held an offense that had scored at least 45 points in every previous game to only 17.

Gunner Stockton completed 18 of 22 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown while adding another rushing score. He also directed a late 84-yard possession that produced the winning field goal.

Georgia's offense is averaging more than 46 points per game and has already scored 63, 70, 45 and 41 in four of its six contests. The Alabama matchup was the first time all season the Bulldogs failed to reach 38.

The rushing depth was particularly impressive because Georgia played without leading backs Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens. Dwight Phillips Jr. stepped in with 120 rushing yards, helping the Bulldogs finish with 206 on the ground against Alabama.

Auburn vs. Georgia Head to Head

Georgia leads the all-time series 66-56-8 and has won nine consecutive meetings since the 2017 SEC Championship Game.

  • October 11, 2025: Georgia 20, Auburn 10
  • October 5, 2024: Georgia 31, Auburn 13
  • September 30, 2023: Georgia 27, Auburn 20
  • October 8, 2022: Georgia 42, Auburn 10

The recent series has been overwhelmingly controlled by Georgia, including five straight home victories under Kirby Smart.

Scoring has also generally remained modest in recent meetings. That history works against the Over, but the current Georgia offense is producing at a much higher rate than several of the Bulldog teams responsible for those results.

Auburn vs. Georgia Line Movement and Betting Splits

Georgia opened closer to an 18.5 to 19-point favorite before the market pushed the Bulldogs beyond 20 at several sportsbooks. The displayed line remains -19.5, preserving a slightly cheaper number than some broader markets.

The total has been much steadier. It has traded between approximately 48.5 and 50.5 before returning to 49.5.

The betting splits are overwhelmingly aligned with the Over. Approximately 97% of total tickets and 99% of the handle are backing Over 49.5, making this one of the most one-sided totals of the entire college football board.

Auburn vs. Georgia Team News and Injuries

Georgia played Alabama without running backs Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens. Their availability remains important, but the Bulldogs showed their backfield depth when Phillips rushed for 120 yards and the team still generated 206 on the ground.

Wide receiver Isiah Canion has also missed multiple games, while Thomas Blackshear was unavailable against Alabama. Georgia has continued producing offensively because Stockton has spread touches among a deep group of receivers, backs and tight ends.

Auburn enters with the benefit of an open week, giving the Tigers additional recovery time after their physical road loss at Tennessee.

Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction

The most straightforward path to the Over is Georgia simply doing most of the work. The Bulldogs are averaging more than 46 points per game and have reached at least 41 four times. A normal Georgia offensive performance immediately puts a 49.5 total in danger.

The Alabama game should not create too much concern about a sudden offensive regression. Georgia still generated 455 total yards against one of the strongest defenses on its schedule, including 206 on the ground. The final score was suppressed more by long possessions and red-zone field goals than an inability to move the ball.

Auburn's run defense creates another advantage for Georgia. The Tigers allowed Tennessee to lean on Bishop for 220 yards, and Georgia has enough backfield depth to continue attacking even if Frazier and Bowens remain limited.

Stockton also gives the Bulldogs another rushing element. Defenses cannot completely sell out against the backs because Georgia can use its quarterback in designed runs and scramble situations, creating additional red-zone stress.

Auburn only needs to contribute somewhere in the mid-teens. Brown's mobility gives the Tigers a chance to manufacture points even when Georgia wins the initial pass-rush matchup. Auburn drove 94 yards quickly against Tennessee and enters with two weeks to prepare specific answers for the Bulldogs.

Georgia's defense is clearly the largest Under argument. No opponent has scored more than 20 against the Bulldogs, and Alabama just managed 17. If Auburn gets stuck around 10 points, Georgia may need to reach 40 for the wager to cash.

That remains realistic. Georgia has scored 41 or more in four games and now faces an Auburn defense that allowed Tennessee to dominate the ground game after halftime. A 38-14, 41-13 or 42-14 type of rivalry result all sends the game Over 49.5.

Auburn vs. Georgia Best Bet

Recent series history points toward lower-scoring football, but Georgia's 2026 offense is operating at a different level. The Bulldogs are averaging more than 46 points and just produced 455 yards at Alabama despite scoring only 20.

Auburn has had two weeks to prepare and Brown's mobility gives the Tigers enough upside to contribute 14 to 17 points. With Georgia capable of approaching 40 on its own, the total remains low enough to back the Over despite the strength of the Bulldogs defense.
