5 Minute ReadFlorida vs. Texas Prediction: Can Gators Rally Against Arch Manning, Longhorns in Battle of Desperate SEC Teams?
Florida visits No. 7 Texas at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium for a noon ET kickoff on ABC. The Gators enter at 4-2 and 2-2 in SEC play, while Texas is 4-1 and 1-1 after suffering its first loss against Oklahoma.
Texas is favored by 11.5 points with the total set at 51.5. Florida has been blown out in consecutive games, but the number now asks the Longhorns to create nearly two touchdowns of separation one week after their offense struggled in a 27-24 Red River loss.
Florida vs. Texas Recent Results
Florida Gators (4-2), (2-2 SEC)
Florida's season has turned quickly after a 4-0 start. The Gators lost 45-17 at Missouri before returning home and falling 38-19 against South Carolina.
The South Carolina performance was particularly disappointing because Florida expected a response after the Missouri loss. Instead, the Gators again fell behind early and never established the offensive rhythm that powered their September success.
The stronger early version of Florida remains relevant. The Gators scored 44 at Auburn and 52 against Ole Miss, with Jadan Baugh emerging as the centerpiece of one of the SEC's most productive rushing attacks.
Baugh enters Saturday with 672 rushing yards and is the only FBS player with more than 600 rushing yards and at least 10 rushing touchdowns. His ability to shorten the game becomes particularly important with Florida catching double digits.
Texas Longhorns (4-1), (1-1 SEC)
Texas suffered its first loss last Saturday when Oklahoma won the Red River Rivalry 27-24. The Longhorns had opened 4-0 with victories over Texas State, Ohio State, UTSA and Tennessee.
Arch Manning has thrown for 1,122 yards through five games. The offense has been productive enough to win, but the explosive consistency expected entering the season has not always materialized.
Texas scored only 24 against Ohio State, 20 at Tennessee and 24 against Oklahoma. That creates an important question for a team laying 11.5 points despite a defense capable of dominating games.
The defense has been the more reliable unit. Texas is allowing only 264.4 yards per game and leads the SEC with 40 tackles for loss, giving Florida a difficult matchup regardless of which quarterback starts.
Florida vs. Texas Head to Head
Texas leads the all-time series 3-1-1, but Florida won last season's matchup in Gainesville.
- October 4, 2025: Florida 29, Texas 21
- November 9, 2024: Texas 49, Florida 17
- December 7, 1940: Texas 26, Florida 0
- September 30, 1939: Texas 12, Florida 0
Florida's 2025 victory provides some recent confidence against the Longhorns. Dallas Wilson made his first career start in that game and caught six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Texas remains unbeaten against Florida in Austin and enters Saturday riding a 12-game home winning streak.

Florida vs. Texas Line Movement and Betting Splits
Florida has moved from roughly +10.5 into the +11.5 range, creating an additional point of protection for anyone taking the road underdog. The market is therefore moving toward Texas despite substantial spread money landing on Florida.
Current sportsbook splits show an even 50% division in spread tickets, but Florida has attracted approximately 66% of the handle at +11.5. Larger average wagers are therefore backing the Gators despite the line moving against them.
The moneyline looks completely different, with more than 90% of individual bets backing Texas to win outright. The total has also received extremely heavy Over support around 51.5.
Florida vs. Texas Team News and Injuries
Florida quarterback Aaron Philo is questionable with a shoulder injury suffered against South Carolina. Backup Tramell Jones Jr. received significant practice repetitions this week and would be positioned for his first collegiate start if Philo cannot play.
Jones has completed 23 of 29 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in limited action. Florida has confidence in his arm talent, but starting at Texas would represent a dramatic increase in responsibility.
Running back Duke Clark is out for Florida. Wide receivers Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton are also questionable.
Texas offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman and receiver Kaliq Lockett are out. Offensive lineman Jordan Coleman and defensive lineman Justus Terry are listed as probable.
Florida vs. Texas Prediction
The quarterback uncertainty makes Florida uncomfortable, but it also explains why the number has reached 11.5. The Gators do not need to rediscover the offense that scored 52 against Ole Miss. They need to remain within 11 points.
Baugh gives Florida the best path to doing that. A productive rushing game can reduce possessions, shorten the game and prevent Texas from repeatedly attacking an inexperienced quarterback if Jones starts. Baugh is capable of carrying a significant workload and has already produced against SEC defenses.
Texas' defense is the strongest argument against the wager. The Longhorns allow only 264.4 yards per game and lead the conference in tackles for loss. Florida's offensive line cannot allow Baugh to be consistently hit behind the line or the quarterback situation will become much more difficult.
The other side of the matchup is why +11.5 remains playable. Texas has scored 24 against Ohio State, 20 against Tennessee and 24 against Oklahoma. The Longhorns have repeatedly won through defense rather than overwhelming quality opponents offensively.
That matters when laying nearly two touchdowns. A 27-17 or 30-20 Texas victory is perfectly acceptable for the Longhorns but cashes the Florida ticket. The Gators can play poorly offensively and still remain inside this number if Texas again settles into the 20s.
Florida also has recent success in the matchup. The Gators beat Texas 29-21 last season and return Baugh and Wilson as major offensive pieces. That does not erase the current two-game losing streak, but it gives the roster tangible evidence that Texas is not unbeatable.
The biggest concern is Florida's confidence after consecutive lopsided defeats. Falling behind by two touchdowns early could create exactly the type of game script the Gators want to avoid, particularly if Philo cannot play.
The spread still compensates for those concerns. Florida receives more than a field goal beyond one touchdown, possesses a legitimate rushing centerpiece and faces a Texas offense that has not consistently created blowout margins against quality opponents. That is enough to take the points.
Florida vs. Texas Best Bet
- Best Bet: Florida +11.5 (-112) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
Florida's recent form is poor and the quarterback injury creates additional uncertainty, but the spread has adjusted aggressively. Texas now needs to win by 12 despite scoring 24 or fewer in each of its three biggest games.
Baugh gives Florida a way to shorten the game and protect whoever starts at quarterback, while 66% of the spread handle is backing the Gators despite an even ticket split. Texas can bounce back and win comfortably without clearing 11.5.
