2022 Hall of Fame Game Las Vegas Raiders vs Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction, Picks: Will Offenses Show Up?
2022 Hall of Fame Game Las Vegas Raiders vs Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction, Picks: Will Offenses Show Up?
We've finally reached the day where the 2022 NFL Season officially kicks off (kind of). I know the game doesn't count and that it will likely be terrible but that doesn't mean we shouldn't bet on something. After all, we're talking about NFL football here. Now the haters are going to tell you it's actually dumb to be the preseason. They're going to say "you never know who is playing" and "the teams aren't actually trying to win". Honestly, they're right about that but that still doesn't make it a good reason to not bet on it.
I bet on stuff that makes no sense all the time. In fact, I'd argue that the reason for betting on the NFL preseason is because you have no idea who's playing. That can get anybody jacked up. Lucky for us, I've read a minimum of two articles (per team) from beat writers about this game. Knowing what I know now, I have the perfect way to play this thing. We legit have a 0.0% chance of losing this bet.

Raiders vs. Jaguars Prediction
We're at DraftKings for this one because I just happened to be in New Hampshire this morning and DraftKings is the only choice they have there.
The good news if you don't have access to DraftKings is that this line is available at every book on the planet. We're talking FanDuel, BetMGM, everybody. Even the locals that are still around doing the lord's work have 30.5 (-110). We can all get this and it feels glorious.
Betting the NFL preseason takes a special type of person. One that likes to party and has absolutely no regard for the safety of their bankroll. These people can watch guys that won't even be playing football when the regular season starts and like it. On top of that, the coaches are calling the most vanilla, pop warner plays we've ever seen. Again, it takes a special human being to get down on this stuff and if that describes you, welcome to the club. We're glad to have you. You're going to love it here.
Typically the Hall of Fame Game is one that we'll hear from the under guys. They love to talk about how it's early, coaches call weak plays, no starters are playing, etc. These people just love to hear themselves talk. Don't listen to them. Since 2000, this game has gone over 30.5 eight times while going under 10 times. That's not that big of a difference. These under guys act like it never goes over when clearly it does. The fact of the matter is, under guys lie.
Tonight we have the perfect setup to stick it to the under guys. I've already seen them talking about the weather and how it might rain. So lame. It's like they don't even realize Josh McDaniels is coaching the Raiders now. This guy doesn't care that it's preseason or that it might rain. In eight preseason games as a head coach, McDaniels has only gone under once. That was a 19-0 beatdown of the Arizona Cardinals back in 2009 so it really wasn't his fault. He did his part. Fast forward to tonight, McDaniels has two quarterbacks who have shown flashes of decency in the NFL in Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens. That's called flushed with talent when you're talking preseason ball.
On the flip side, the Jaguars are being run by Doug Pederson who probably wants to get after it a little tonight too. It's his first game in his new home. We all remember that in his first year in Philly the Eagles scored 17, 17, 33, and 14 in their four preseason games. That feels important. He doesn't have the quarterback talent the Raiders do but Jake Luton and Kyle Sloter might not be that bad. We will probably just need two touchdowns from them to get home on this and that feels doable. At the end of the day, the only way to watch this thing tonight is with an over ticket in your pocket. Feels right.
