Today is a beautiful day because football is back. I do not care that this is the pre-season and that these games are meaningless and that by the third quarter, we probably won’t know who anyone is. Football is football, and this means we have to gamble on it, according to the gambling Bible.

The Hall of Fame preseason game has become a tradition, and tonight we will see the Las Vegas Raiders vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. These two teams are looking to surprise the league this season for different reasons. Let's dive into my prediction, pick, and odds for Raiders vs Jaguars.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction

The Jags season was a disaster last year with head coach Urban Meyer. Meyer was fired in his first season after not only being one of the worst coaches in the league but drawing attention to his team off the field. The man who took over is a former super bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles, Doug Pederson. Pederson should bring a veteran and professional presence to this locker room that is much needed with a young team.

Trevor Lawrence will be in his second season, looking to build off a long rookie year. It was tough to evaluate Lawrence last year due to the serious lack of talent around him and the coaching issues. A lot of people are confident Lawrence will have a breakout type of season, including me.

The Raiders got better in the off-season, landing one of the best wideouts in football Davante Adams. Adams and Raiders QB Derek Carr played college football together at Fresno State and will look to take the league by storm. The issue for the Raiders is that they play in the best conference in football. They will have to be sharp to be a playoff team this season. 

I am taking the points with the Jags tonight. Look, I am not going to give our stats here. This is the preseason, but I do think the Jags have more QB depth on their roster for this type of game. I also believe these games can tend to be coin flips, so taking the points seems to be the smarter move tonight. I just can not wait to kick back and see live NFL football tonight after a long wait.
