ANALYSIS

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Green Bay Packers Odds, Pick, Prediction: Can Jordan Love Carry Packers?

Let me walk you through what happened with this one. Here's why you always look at the lines before you go reading articles about matchups. Sometimes you don't even need to waste your time.

I woke up this morning and immediately started googling "Patrick Mahomes" in an attempt to find out if he was playing or not. All that came up was nonsense that Sammy Watkins was saying about how Aaron Rodgers is on a "whole different level". Like who cares what first-round busts have to say about legends? Anyway not the point. Come check out my prediction, picks, and odds for tonight's NFL preseason contest.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Green Bay Packers Prediction

I would have saved myself all kinds of time had I just looked at the lines first and saw that the total for this one is 35.5. Who in their right minds would set a line that low? This is preschool easy people. If I was in charge the person who made this line would be fired immediately. Honestly, you'd have a better chance of keeping your job if you walked in and set the building on fire than doing something like this. Pure insanity.

This one is at FanDuel and it's the best number and price going. Both BetMGM and DraftKings have 36 (-110) so it's not like they're much worse but still, always take the best deal. In all honesty, if we were smart, we'd simply wait for the alt lines to come out because this thing is probably going over 40. If that's the case, we'll be banging out a move higher than +200 which is always fun. In all of my days, I've never NOT had fun winning a +200 or higher bet. It's just how winning +200 or higher bets work.

There's still a crowd out there that says we shouldn't be betting preseason and I don't know how to help them. I wish they would see the light but they are just too stubborn. First off, you can't win if you don't bet. That means NFL Preseason betting is no different than regular season betting in that regard. It's a game, on television and there are lines for it. Not sure what else needs to be said here.

The thing about both of these teams is they could each score 20+ points tonight. The Packers have already done it in both games they've played so far. Sure their offense has been super vanilla but so is everyone else's. Jordan Love didn't look that bad at quarterback last time out and neither did Danny Etling. On top of that, they played the Saints who looked pretty good defensively. Now the Pack gets to work against a bunch of Chief backups who gave up 19 points to the Chicago Bears and 14 to the Washington Commanders. We could easily get 20 out of these Packers.

On the other side, even though we likely won't see much of Patrick Mahomes, I don't know if that is a big deal or not. First off, Green Bay just gave up 10 points to a team led by Ian Book. That's 20+ to any other team when you bust out the conversion chart. They also gave up 28 to the San Francisco 49ers who had a very hard time moving the ball last week against the Minnesota Vikings. I'm just saying Green Bay's backups on defense are not great. Shane Buechele has looked borderline serviceable so far so we just need Dustin Crum to not be awful when he plays in the second half. I think we get 40+ out of these teams tonight and we only need 36. Feels right.
