Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Prediction
1u - Greg Joseph Over 2.5 Extra Points Made (-125) (Bet $125 to win $100)
As many of you know I am a diehard Detroit sports fan. Betting on the opposing team to score three touchdowns and make three extra points may not be good for my Detroit fandom but the bet makes sense from a gambling perspective. The Vikings are projected the most points of any team this week in the NFL. The Lions offense has been absolutely humming this year but the defense has allowed 65 points through two games.
If you look at this bet of Joseph to make three extra points you will see value if you were to just bet on Vikings touchdowns. The Vikings touchdown team prop is 3.5 with juice on the over. Of course, we run the risk that Joseph misses a kick or the Vikings elect to go for 2 but this feels like a really nice value here. Minnesota should be motivated after getting embarrassed on MNF which comes as no surprise because Kirk Cousins is historically bad in primetime. Throw Cousins in a 1:00 EST game and he looks like Tom Brady.
This game is tied for the highest total on the slate with a 52.5 total and the Vikings are -6 favorites. That would project the Viking around 29-30 points and if that’s the case it is very difficult to imagine a world where they didn’t make three extra points along the way. This extra point market seems pretty fair as a pivot from betting team touchdowns. Joseph has made 48 of his last 52 extra points so I think he should be money. Let's roll!
