Thursday nights are a time for everyone to adequately prepare for their weekend. You can't be certain you're ready until you've proven to yourself and the world that you're ready. Think of it as a dress rehearsal for the weekend. That's what has helped me the most. Luckily for us, the NFL gives a game each week to practice on. We can do whatever we want (responsibly) with it because there are close to a million other games over the weekend that we can use to get right (responsibly). It's beautiful. What I like better than anything else is to take a couple shots at the moon with the Thursday night game. You don't have to be right on all of them to stuff a little cash in your pocket which is nice. In most cases, you just have to nail one. I'm pretty certain that this is our "one".
Bears vs. Commanders Prediction
Justin Fields 200+ Passing Yards (+178) (Bet $100 to win $178)
We're hanging around the lobby at FanDuel rubbing shoulders (responsibly) with the likes of Tom Vecchio and Kay Adams for this one because FanDuel gives us ladders. Is it too much to ask the other books to help us out with these? How can FanDuel be so good at giving us these things but the others can't figure it out? It's sad. We're good people. Just give us what we want. We want ladder bets.
Now the haters are going to say that Justin Fields doesn't even throw the ball. They are kind of right because the guy has only thrown 88 passes (responsibly) this season which is not a lot when you've played five games. I get that argument but if you look over the game logs, you'll see that he's thrown 20+ times in each of the last two games. I know that's a first half for most people but let's go with baby steps here (responsibly). At least he's trending in the right direction (responsibly).
The thing with Fields is we know the guy can sling it. The beauty of this bet is the fact that he doesn't have to be Patrick Mahomes to get home on this number. Guys throw for 200 yards in a half all the time. This is the NFL we're talking about here people. Kids go for 200+ in high school these days. It's only a matter of time before we see the Chicago Bears' coaching staff take the training wheels off of Justin Fields. The guy just went 200+ last week (responsibly) so we know he can do it.
The Bears' opponent this week might just be the perfect team for the Bears' to let Fields get loose on. I would love to see a little back and forth game script and that's possible but not totally needed. So far this season, only two teams in the NFL have allowed more yards per pass completion than Washington. They've been torched by wide receivers seemingly every game. In fact, only three teams have given up more receiving yards to the wide receiver position this season. I think we just need a big reception or two Thursday night and we're home on this. At the end of the day, it's +178 for 200+ yards. We have to do it.
