I’m a prop guy, but this bet I have to take this bet!
Jaguars vs. Giants Prediction
1u - Jacksonville Jaguars -2.5 (-125) (Bet $125 to win $225)
Before everyone says, “the line is -3!” this is an alternate spread. We’re buying an extra half point to ensure we don’t push if Jacksonville wins by exactly 3. To some people, this bet is wild. Why is a 2-4 team favored over a 5-1 team, and why are we on the side with double as many losses as wins? We’ve seen stuff like this so many times, and we’ll go on the sharp side and not square bet on a team solely based on their record.
I believe that the Giants have been overachieving and are due a reality check soon. This feels like a letdown spot for them. Jacksonville defends the run exceptionally well, allowing the 6th fewest rushing yards, and that’s the main way the Giants move the ball. If Jacksonville can limit Saquon Barkley, then the Giants will have a hard time moving the chains, especially with all of the injuries they are dealing with in their wide receiver room, with Shepard and Toney being hurt and Golladay likely not suiting up.
Jacksonville is at home and is due for some positive regression after losing 3 straight games by one possession. The public money is all over the Giants here, and I can’t imagine Vegas wants the public to win by taking the G-Men. I think these teams, in terms of talent, are fairly equal, but as a believer in-laws of averages, I don’t see the Giants starting 6-1, and Jacksonville is due. We’re buying the half point if we see a game-winning field goal, we don’t celebrate pushes. I weirdly feel very confident about this one enough to step out of my comfort zone as a prop bettor to come bet a spread. Let's roll!
