We're at FanDuel here since they have the best price I've seen on this one. DraftKings has -2.5 (+187), which isn't terrible, and BetMGM is right in line at -2.5 (+185). Obviously, we need to be at FanDuel here. Anytime you're betting on a team with a coach who has never coached before and doesn't have anyone on staff who has called plays before, you want the best number. It's just the smart way of doing things.
This week we saw something that we've never seen before. We saw a guy (Jeff Saturday) with absolutely no NFL coaching experience whatsoever get hired to be the head coach of an NFL team. When I say no coaching experience, I don't mean head coaching experience, I mean none at all. The only difference between him and you is that he played in the NFL. I'm sure that helps but how much? Playing and coaching just isn't the same thing. Everyone knows that.
On top of having a head coach with no coaching experience, they'll have a guy named Parks Frazier calling plays for them. He's never called plays in an NFL game before. That seems suboptimal. Like, not great. I mean, we've all played Madden before, but we have to believe that calling plays in a real NFL game is a little different than the video games. I don't know, it might not be. I have no idea. That's not the point though.
This game is an opportunity for anyone who loves an underdog. Anyone that believes the impossible is possible. The thing is, if you've ever seen Jeff Saturday speak as well as Any Given Sunday, then you know exactly what is about to happen. This guy is going to give an "Inches Speech" type speech before this game. And if you've seen the Inches Speech, you know damn well a Josh McDaniel-coached team has no chance against a team that just heard the Inches Speech from a guy like Jeff Saturday. We have a chance to be legends here with this bet people. I'm taking it.
