John Hyslop's Premium 4 PM Teaser Pick

NFL Teaser (-120) Bet $100 to collect $183

  • San Francisco 49ers -2.5
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +8.5

Sometimes what we need in our lives is an NFL teaser. You know it, I know it, the books know it. Well, that time is today, more specifically at 4:00 pm ET. By then we will have already cashed our early slate bets and will likely be looking for a little more action. It happens every Sunday. The thing about teasers is, they are the easiest way to play the NFL this time of the year. The books are good at making lines by now so we can almost tease either side and win. Gotta love it.

The first leg of this thing will take us to San Francisco where the 49ers are hosting the New Orleans Saints. The 49ers and Jimmy Garapollo just beat the brakes off of the Arizona Cardinals last Monday night but that's not really why I think this is a great move. I just have no confidence in Andy Dalton and the rest of the Saints. Especially on the road. They've only been on the road four times this season and they've failed to cover this number in three of those games. All three of those games were outside just like this one. This is a classic inside cat game and we all know what happens when you let an inside cat outside. They don't last long (probably).

This last leg is perfect since the game is on Monday night. That way, we'll get to watch the 49ers big-boy the Saints, then properly savor the experience. Not a lot of people do it anymore and some say it's not even fashionable these days, but I disagree. You'll see what I mean today. As for the Steelers +8.5, I've run so many mental simulations on this thing and they win the game outright in almost all of them. Obviously, we don't need them to do that Monday night, but it's nice to know they can.

The thing with Pittsburgh is they seem to be on an upward trajectory since the beginning of October. They've only failed to cover 8.5 twice and that was against the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. Those teams could meet in the Super Bowl. This week they're getting the Indianapolis Colts who haven't covered 8.5 all season. They aren't built like that. It's not how they roll. I think we're looking at a 20-17 type game and with the Steelers +8.5, I don't even care who wins (but hopefully the Steelers).
