Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Prediction
This game is significant for Seattle as they still can sneak their way into the playoffs. The fact that the Seahawks may make the playoffs is an accomplishment in itself. This was a team that was not slated to win five games this year, and now here we are in the final week of the season, talking about a playoff possibility.
Seattle has been led by veteran quarterback Geno Smith who is having a career year. Smith was seen as a one-year filler, but his stellar play may keep him around beyond this year. Smith was voted into the pro bowl this season and will have a legitimate chance to win the NFL's most improved player. The Seahawks have lost three of their last four, but they did get a big-time win last weekend against the Jets to keep their playoff hopes alive. Seattle will need some help as they will need to win this game, and then they will need the Lions to beat the Packers tonight.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, is having the worst Super Bowl hangover of all time. This is a Rams team that set the record for most losses following a Super Bowl. Everything that could have gone wrong this year went wrong for the Rams. Matthew Stafford was out the majority of the season due to an injury, and star wideout Copper Kupp missed the second half of the year. They were not as good on the defensive side of the ball this year despite having one of the best defenses in football a season ago. Despite the poor season, the Rams would love to play spoiler today and end their divisional rival’s season.
I will take the points with the Rams today. I know that Seattle is playing for more, but the Rams should play this game loosely and carefree, which could be a good thing for a team that just had an awful year. I think that they do enough to hang around in this game and stay within this number. Baker Mayfield has continued to look better, and every game for Mayfield is an audition to the rest of the league that he can still play. Seattle is not the type of team to blow anyone out, and I think we see a close back-and-forth game this afternoon. Let’s cash in!
