It’s been a solid preseason so far, coming in at 7-2, +4.08u YTD, but there is work still to be done. Tonight, we are blessed with a preseason battle between the Saints and Texans. We are so close to the regular season, but for now, the preseason will suffice.

Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints Prediction
The Saints have been putting up points in the preseason. Derek Carr is the starter, but Jameis Winston has been doing everything he can to make it as much of a QB competition as possible. Winston has led the Saints to two preseason wins so far, how will he fare tonight against CJ Stroud and the Texans?
It’s been a bumpy road this preseason for CJ Stroud, who is still hasn’t locked up the Texans’ starting QB job. He has shown flashes of greatness, but overall it’s been a subpar preseason for the rookie. It’s going to take Stroud a while to settle in, and Houston knows that entering the season.
CJ Stroud gets a lot of the attention in the media, but let’s not forget about Will Anderson. The rookie EDGE rusher has been tearing up the preseason.
People aren’t talking about the Texans’ third overall pick in the 2022 draft enough either. Derek Stingley, the former LSU corner, has looked much improved in camp. This Texans’ defense might not be half-bad this year.
My prediction tonight: CJ Stroud struggles once again, but the Houston defense shows up tonight. There’s a strong possibility Derek Carr and most of the Saints’ starters won’t be suiting up for tonight’s preseason finale. The Saints should rely on their run game heavily with Carr out; they already know what they have with their backup Jameis Winston. Expect the Saints to chew the clock and the Texans to struggle mightily on defense.
The Texans still need to figure out their week one starting QB. They are going to see what they have with Stroud, and probably end up playing him extended minutes tonight considering they already have two years of film on Davis Mills. I don’t think this bodes well for the Texans’ offense tonight. Don’t expect much out of the Saints' second and third-team offense either. With the total on the move from 38 to 37.5, bet the under before you get a worse number.
