To round out our AFC predictions, we have to head to the AFC South, where I think there is the most obvious, and maybe square, play I will take on divisions this year. The AFC South has been struggling for the last few seasons to be a competitive force in the league, and while half the division definitely is not there, there is one squad that showed signs of hope last season.
AFC South Preview and Prediction
The Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans would need miraculous seasons to take the cake here, and I am not trying to be dramatic. These franchises both drafted the quarterback they hope will lead them to success in the future, with Indianapolis drafting Anthony Richardson and Houston taking CJ Stroud. I think Houston has the better chance of getting something going here as they have some other talented pieces on that squad, and I think Stroud is the better of the two, but I do not expect much noise from them this year.
That leaves the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars to duke it out for the division, and while Mike Vrabel is an underrated head coach who has done a great job keeping this team successful in his time there, I just do not think they have it this year. I think 10, maybe 11 wins is going to take the division this year, and after a 9-8 season last year and some phenomenal games from a young squad, I like the Jaguars to build on it.
Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence are only improving as a duo, and the young quarterback is entering that phase of his career where he now has experience under his belt and is poised to snap. The rest of the division lacks experience, and although the Titans will duke it out with every squad they can, I do not think they have what it takes to come out on top here.
I do not like plays this juicy, but in the spirit of season-long wagers, and since I am confident, I'll bite. Just one unit here; don't go crazy.
