3 minSunday Night Football Player Props Week 1: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets for Giants vs. Cowboys
Sunday Night Football kicks off 2023 with an NFC East matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. The NFC East had three playoff teams in 2023, and the division is expected to be very competitive again in 2023, making this game a big one to start the season for both squads. With two dynamic offenses hitting the field on Sunday night, there are a few touchdown scorer props I love tonight. Let's get right into it.
Sunday Night Football Anytime TD Picks
Tony Pollard Anytime Touchdown @ -125 (Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds)
Typically, I don't like to take juice on anytime touchdown props, but -125 is not too bad. The two-headed workhorse of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard has lost a head, as Elliott signed with the Patriots in the offseason. Pollard now remains the lone workhorse for this rushing attack, with no real dominant backup behind him. Pollard was extremely impressive in his fourth season in the NFL, leading the Cowboys in rushing yards despite getting 38 fewer carries than Elliott. Pollard averaged 5.2 yards per carry to Elliott's 3.8, yet Elliott still got the majority of red zone carries throughout the season. With that, Elliott finished with 12 rushing touchdowns, while Pollard finished with 9. However, Pollard also added three touchdowns through the air, meaning he scored 12 touchdowns in 16 games played. Now, he is the main running back carrying the entire load of the rushing attack.
Ezekiel Elliott ranked third in rush attempts inside the five-yard line last season, meaning he was taking away a lot of goal-line carries that Pollard will now pick up this season. It feels like the market has not adjusted to this, as other full-time running backs who scored at a similar rate to Pollard have lines over -150. This is a great spot to pick up the fifth-year back who is hitting his prime to score tonight in the season opener.
Isaiah Hodgins Anytime Touchdown @ +400 (Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds)
+400 for this member Giants' offense is an insane price. Hodgins started 2022 very slow and did not even log a snap in five of the first seven games of the season, but he really ramped up to end the season. Isaiah had four touchdown receptions over the last five games of the season, and he had at least four receptions in all of those games as well. Hodgins' role only picked up in the playoffs, as Hodgins went off for 105 yards with 8 receptions and a touchdown in the win against the Vikings in the first round.
Heading into 2023, it seems like Hodgins will have a similar role as he did to end the season last year. He became one of Jones' favorite targets over the latter half of the season and even became his most reliable target in the playoff win.
The Cowboy's front seven is a scary unit, but Jones is elusive and can make plays out of broken blocks. The Cowboys, as a result, have one of the top rushing defenses in the NFL, but they were actually dead last in touchdowns allowed to opposing wide receivers with 22. Part of that is the "all-in" mentality Trevon Diggs employs in coverage, which gets him a lot of picks, but he also gives up some big plays. Hodgins will have a lot of snaps lined up with Diggs, so Jones may get him a long touchdown tonight. Even if it's not a big play, Jones targeted Hodgins often in the end zone last season and that should continue into week one tonight.
