Everyone’s been watching Hard Knocks this offseason, starving for NFL action. We hear the same narrative every year about the team on the show: that they’re going to be good. HBO does a great job of showcasing the stars on each team, and the hype surrounding the Jets this season is overblown.
Yes, the Jets brought in Aaron Rodgers this season. He is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but how did he fare last year behind a below-average offensive line? Rodgers had one of his least productive seasons of his career in Green Bay last year, mainly thanks to his decreasing speed. He isn’t able to evade defenders as well as he could early on in his career, and it’s starting to affect his play.
The Jets have a poor offensive line, and the Bills have debatably the best defensive line in football (behind the Cowboys). Even without Von Miller, this DL should feast tonight. Much like we saw Daniel Jones struggle with last night, Rodgers will only have a second or two to make plays.
In week one, the underdog has covered in eleven of fifteen games. They’ve won seven of those nine gams outright. With the public backing Rodgers and the Jets, the NFL’s “shiny new toy,” fade the public and back the favorite on the road. Josh Allen is finally healthy, and this offense has enough skill players to “throw off” Sauce Gardner and the Jets’ defense. The Bills’ defense is just as good, if not better than the Jets’ defense, and Josh Allen has a reliable offensive line. Buffalo has an edge in this one.
