Monday Night Football Betting Picks: Can Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers Get Over the Total?
Monday Night Football betting picks ahead of Week 1's game between the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills. Handicapper Krabs has a play for the total tonight that he loves. Everyone is talking about the QBs, but it's the defenses we should be focussing on.

For some reason, all the hype surrounding tonight’s MNF matchup has to do with the offenses. It’s Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen tonight, and the public is expecting a shootout. What the public isn’t taking into account are both teams’ top-five defenses. I’d go as far to say this is a matchup between the second (Bills) and third best (Jets) defense in football. Don’t get too excited for this one folks, it’s going to be a snooze-fest.

Monday Night Football Prediction
The total opened up at 47 before getting steamed down to 44.5 in most places. There is suspect weather in the forecast, and we saw poor weather play a significant factor in a lot of games on the East Coast yesterday. I wouldn’t be surprised if the weather impacts the total in tonight’s matchup between AFC East rivals.
The Bills might be without Von Miller tonight, but their defensive line is so loaded it doesn’t even matter. Greg Rosseau, Ed Oliver, Daquan Jones, Leonard Floyd, Shaw Lawson and Jordan Phillips are all studs on the defensive line. Even backups like Tim Settle and Poona Ford are beasts; they’d be starting on almost any other team.
The Bills’ defensive line is loaded, and the Jets’ biggest weakness is their offensive line. Rodgers will have barely any time to throw the ball tonight against this Bills’ defensive front. I mean no disrespect to the Jets’ defensive line either, they are a top-five unit in football as well.
The Bills may have a slight edge against the Jets and their below-average offensive line, but the Jets should limit Allen as well tonight. New York has one of the best secondaries in football, and debatably the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL with Sauce Gardner, DJ Reed and Michael Carter. Although Josh Allen is healthy and Stefon Diggs is expected to play tonight, they won’t be able to win this game in a shootout against this Jets’ defense.
Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers are two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but the public is expecting too much out of them in this contest. It will be the defenses that shine in tonight’s MNF matchup, not the star quarterbacks like everyone's expecting. Fade the public and bet the under before the total drops even lower. It’s a great sign to see this total down almost three points from the opener with less than 40% of bets on the under (per DraftKings).
