Brock Purdy 49ers throw

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Brock Purdy, 49ers Dominate Again?

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams are one of the most entertaining matchups to look forward in NFL Week 2. Can Brock Purdy and the 49ers dominate again, just like last week?

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Brock Purdy, 49ers Dominate Again?

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams are one of the most entertaining matchups to look forward to each year, as two of the best head coaches, Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay, collide yet again in SoFi Stadium. San Francisco just wiped the floor with Pittsburgh, cruising to a 30-7 blowout win on the road against a team that arguably had the most preseason hype entering Week 1. Meanwhile, the Rams, whom no one expected to be competitive, also blew out the Seahawks 30-13 on the road.

No Cooper Kupp? No problem, as far as Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is concerned. He targeted TuTu Atwell and rookie wideout Puka Nacua 22 times against a talented Seattle secondary in Week 1, with quite a bit of production as a result. The 49ers have arguably the best front seven in football, even with Nick Bosa neutralized in Week 1, so the Rams will have to find ways to get the ball out quickly to their skilled players in Week 2.

Oddsmakers have the Rams as a touchdown underdog ATS at home, with a relatively low point total at 44.5 points at FanDuel Sportsbook. There's a ton of value to gain for any bettor willing to wager the Rams' +245 moneyline odds, although they are 1-4 SU in the last five head-to-head matchups, including the postseason.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction

49ers second-year quarterback Brock Purdy looked sharp against a young Pittsburgh secondary, and he'll get his next test in another road environment, this time against a divisional opponent. Purdy did record one turnover with a fumble lost, including two total fumbles, under duress from T.J. Watt in Week 1. The Rams were able to get pressure on Seattle in Week 1 despite underwhelming personnel.

There are simply too many weapons on the 49ers offense to completely account for from a defensive game plan, so expect running back Christian McCaffery and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to take top priority. Meanwhile, the Rams turned to a young wide receiving corps in the absence of star wideout Cooper Kupp, as Stafford threw for over 300 yards, putting the Rams in the red zone for three easy rushing touchdown conversions.

The 49ers are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against the Rams, including on the road at SoFi, so as fun as it was to watch Los Angeles prove its doubters wrong with a statement road win in Week 1, it won't continue in Week 2. The spread is among the biggest in Week 2, with the 49ers laying seven points, but we've seen them win by double digits in three of the last five head-to-head matchups against the Rams.

Let's not overthink this one and bet the 49ers to continue covering the spread as seven-point road favorites at -110 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
