There was a lot of talk in the off-season about the lack of improvements that the Kansas City Chiefs failed to make in their receiver room, and it was on full display last Thursday against the Detroit Lions. It’s nice to have Travis Kelce, who is one of the best tight ends of all time, but he was injured in Week 1, and Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and others were tasked with picking up the slack, and they were not good at all.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction
Kadarius Toney had one of the worst games of all time by an NFL wide receiver, as he had three critical drops; one led to a pick-six, and the other prevented the Chiefs from getting in field-goal range to potentially win the game in the final seconds.
Fast forward to this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Chiefs will likely have Travis Kelce back in their offense and get another boost on defense as their star defensive end, Chris Jones, returns to action after his contract holdout. This will be no cakewalk for the Chiefs, though, as the Jaguars have elevated their franchise to the next level under Trevor Lawrence and Doug Pederson‘s leadership.
The Jags put on an impressive performance in week one if you just look at the final score as they went into Indianapolis and won by double digits but now are tasked with the defending Super Bowl Champions and the best quarterback on the planet in Patrick Mahomes, and I was not very impressed with the Jags defense. They allowed just under 300 yards to Anthony Richardson and a very anemic Indianapolis Colts offense, which was a bit surprising, considering it was his first game in the NFL.
The Jacksonville offense also did not look very crisp, as they turned the ball over twice and were sacked twice as well. The Jags only put up 350 yards of offense and will have to do a lot better today to keep up with Mahomes. The Chiefs' defense against the Lions was not the reason they lost that game. Even without Chris Jones, the Chiefs' defense looked very solid and really only gave up 14 total points to a very potent Lions offense. Even though the Chiefs did lose their home opener against the Lions and started the season 0-1, their defense played extremely well, which was a very positive takeaway given that the side of the ball has been one of their main issues in the past.
The bottom line for this game is that the Chiefs are basically back to full strength with two of their superstars, Kelce and Jones, back in action, and this is the ultimate buy-low spot on Kansas City against a possibly overrated Jags team. With that being said, I am rolling with Chiefs ML at -156 for 2U as my most confident NFL play of the day for today’s NFL slate.
