It's only been a week since the NFL season started.
Running backs aren't an essential position to NFL general managers and owners. But in an actual game, they're as important as ever.

NFL RB Cheat Sheet Week 2

Jamaal Williams scored 17 touchdowns last season for the Detroit Lions. However, he added 18 carries for only 45 yards last week.
He didn't score a touchdown.
So now he's due.
He'll take on a Panthers defense that allowed 130 yards on the ground in Week 1. Carolina missed many tackles and looked poor in the run game against the Falcons last weekend. The Falcons rarely threw the ball and scored 24 points in a 24-10 win over the Panthers.
Take Williams to score on Monday night.

McCaffrey is the best running back in the NFL.
He added 22 carries for 152 yards and a touchdown against an excellent Steelers defense.
Now he gets to face the Rams. That defense isn't nearly as good, despite its recent efforts against the Seahawks. The Rams still allowed 85 yards on the ground and missed plenty of tackles.
After the 49ers earned 188 yards rushing in Week 1, I like McCaffrey to earn 70 in today's game, at least. If he breaks out for one, he'll be way over.

Nobody's really talking about Indianapolis' run defense against the Jaguars last weekend. But I will.
The Jaguars rushed the ball 35 times against the Colts and earned just three yards per carry.
On the other hand, Dameon Pierce saw 11 carries and earned just 3.5 yards per carry for 38 yards. His longest rush was just seven yards. Meanwhile, Devin Singletary had seven carries, and Stroud rushed the ball four times.
Even if Pierce gets 15 carries, that wouldn't be enough against this Colts rush defense.
