ANALYSIS

NFL Player Props Week 3: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets

The NFL has another jam-packed Sunday slate for us to wager on during Week 3 of the 2023 season. Last week, we went 2-4 with our anytime touchdown scorer bets, slightly improving from our 1-4 start in Week 1.

Travis Kelce's return to the Chiefs lineup didn't take long before Patrick Mahomes found him in the red zone for Kansas City's second touchdown of the day in a low-scoring, 17-9 road win over Jacksonville. Anthony Richardson was our other anytime touchdown scorer bet that cashed, racking up two first-quarter rushing touchdowns, but exiting the game after the second touchdown scored to enter the concussion protocol.

As for the players who didn't hit in Week 3, there were a couple of close calls. Buffalo's second-year running back, James Cook, had a monster outing against Las Vegas, racking up well over 100 scrimmage yards, but he was only fed a couple of red zone touches, ceding touchdowns to backup running backs instead. Explosive rookie wideout Zay Flowers had three to four plays designed specifically for him in the red zone, but the Ravens couldn't get Flowers into the end zone despite force-feeding him downfield and near the goal line. Tyler Allegeier and Tyler Higbee were the final two players who failed to score a touchdown, never coming close due to opportunity and game script.

Our goal is always to hit every touchdown scorer prop bet wagered, and we've made improvements during each of the first two weeks. Let's keep this momentum rolling into Week 3, as NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is back with six lucrative anytime touchdown scorer prop bets to wager.

Best NFL Week 3 Anytime TD Bets

Tyreek Hill Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-110) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The most dominant wide receiver in the league right now, Tyreek Hill will be playing without his counterpart, Jaylen Waddle, against a Broncos secondary that just let Sam Howell throw for 299 yards and two touchdowns in Week 2. Plus, Denver will be playing without star safety Justin Simmons, so this is setting up to be another smash performance from Hill during the Dolphins' first home game of the season. Hill has an elite 32.9 percent target share, he's scored both weeks, and he has caught four of five red zone targets for two touchdowns. Don't overthink this one and let's lock Hill in as a multi-unit anytime touchdown scorer against the Broncos at -110 odds.

Justin Jefferson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-105) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The highest point total line on the Week 3 slate is between two 0-2 teams with talented offenses, as the Vikings host the Chargers. 54.5 points means oddsmakers expect a shootout like we saw during the Dolphins vs. Chargers matchup in Week 1, so naturally, the best player on the field, Justin Jefferson should finally find the end zone for the first time this season. Los Angeles' secondary has been torched against Miami and Tennessee, giving up 666 receiving yards and four touchdowns, including two to Tyreek Hill in Week 1. Jefferson remains the target hog in Minnesota's pass-heavy offense, but he only has one target in the red zone. Whether it's a red zone touchdown or a big-play touchdown, it counts all the same for us. Jefferson is ready to explode, perhaps with a pair of scores, but for now, let's invest a healthy wager on his anytime touchdown scorer prop at -105 odds.

Stefon Diggs Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+125) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

Josh Allen's preferred alpha in the Bills offense remains wideout Stefon Diggs. Through two games, Diggs has a 26 percent target share, hauling in 17 of 20 passes, including the first touchdown of the Monday Night Football loss to the New York Jets in Week 1. Diggs caught all seven targets for 66 yards in Week 2 in a rout of Las Vegas and now he faces Washington's secondary, which just surrendered three receiving touchdowns against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos' mediocre personnel. Diggs is due to find the end zone again, operating as the top red zone target, hauling in all four receptions thus far, so let's lock him in as an anytime touchdown scorer at a solid +125 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

T.J. Hockenson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+170) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The Vikings just made T.J. Hockenson the highest-paid tight end in the league and he's been worth every cent thus far, securing two touchdowns against the Eagles on Thursday Night Football during a Week 2 loss. He scored early and late, while also drawing three red zone targets, which is two more than star wideout, Justin Jefferson. The Chargers have one of the worst pass defenses we've seen through the first two weeks, and Kirk Cousins is slinging the ball with accuracy, confidence, and volume. Hockenson at +170 is a line we need to take advantage of, based on his usage and the matchup that awaits in dry, ideal conditions at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Zay Flowers Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+210) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

I'm still fully confident in Zay Flowers' ability to garner a commanding target share, which will lead to his first career touchdown at any moment. The talented rookie wideout has quickly become Lamar Jackson's favorite target within Baltimore's offense, maintaining a 27.8 percent target share through two weeks, compared to Mark Andrews, who has a 14.8 percent target share. While Andrews has scored, Flowers is due, as the Ravens fed him multiple red zone targets against the Bengals, coming up just short in Week 2. This time around, against a Colts defense allowing four passing touchdowns and 574 receiving yards, including two against rookie C.J. Stroud and the Texans' offense last week, we can expect Flowers to record the first touchdown of his NFL career in a plus-matchup with multiple Ravens skilled players already dealing with injuries. At +210 odds, Flowers' anytime touchdown scorer prop is a fantastic value worth at least one unit of your bankroll wagered on Sunday afternoon.

Nico Collins Anytime Touchdown Scorer(+240) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The arrival of No. 2 overall pick, quarterback C.J. Stroud, has already made significant improvements to the Houston Texans' offense in 2023. Despite being 0-2, Houston has been competitive, with Stroud attempting 91 passes, ranked fourth-most in the league through two weeks. His favorite target has been third-year wideout, Nico Collins, who has a 23.5 percent target share, hauling in his first touchdown of the season against the Colts in Week 2. He only has one red zone target, but Collins cashed in with an eight-yard touchdown reception in a plus-matchup. In Week 3, the Texans hit the road to face a Jaguars defense built to stop the run, not the pass. The Jaguars have allowed 513 receiving yards, ranked tenth-most in the league, including three touchdowns thus far. Houston's dealing with injuries in its own secondary, so it'll likely be playing from behind, plus the Texans' run game has been anemic to start the year. In a matchup where passing yards will be easier to produce than rushing yards, Collins profiles as a strong candidate to find the end zone, with lucrative +240 anytime touchdown odds.
